Thirty Seven- How to find a loo

"PICK UP THE PHONE-PICK, PICK, PICK UP THE PH-" I jump awake as the alarm clock blares some random radio message from the BBC.

"For god's sake," I mutter, rubbing my eyes and hitting the snooze button. I made a mental note to get a new SIM card and set my alarm correctly tonight. Rhys barges into my room and flops onto my bed, flailing his arms like a starfish,

"I need to sleep! You have no idea how much jet lag affected me." He says into my pillow. I shrug, jet lag hadn't really affected me since I had slept in the car.

"Can't relate." I mutter getting off my bed. My hand reaches for a pillow as I beat Rhys with it. Rhys's nimble body dodges all my strikes except for one on his rear.

"Finally!" I throw the pillow down and exit the room, looking for the nearest bathroom. Wait, should I be calling it a loo? Maybe. I get drawn into the details of the kitchen that I completely forget that I was looking for a bathroom. A sudden urge to pee overcomes me and I scream,

"Where the hell is the loo in this place?" I scream, throwing my arms up in frustration.

"There's one in your room, right next to your posters." Rhys responds, his voice coming from the entrance of the house.

"Darn it!" I scream, walking back to my room. I start digging through my closet, looking for something to wear. I pull out a pair of overalls with a button up shirt.

"This will have to do." I mutter, walking in the bathroom to get ready. As I exit the bathroom I could hear Rhys humming Madonna in his work uniform.

"Don't you look so dapper?" I asked, cringing as dapper came out of my mouth. Where was I, the eighties. Rhys raised an eyebrow,

"Dapper?" I shake my head as I shove my feet into my boots,

"Don't Rhys." I say, running to the kitchen drawer to get a granola bar.

"Young lady, that better not be all you're having for breakfast." Rhys scolds me while packing his bag for his first day as branch leader. I look at him sheepishly,

"Maybe." I open the bar and bite into it, the chocolatey flavor melting in my mouth. I wave goodbye to Rhys,

"Bye Rhys, good luck on your first day!" I rush out, grabbing my backpack and walking out of the house. My hands play with the straps of my backpack anxiously. I felt like a kindergartener starting school. I sit outside of my house, waiting for Charlotte to come pick me up.

A blue Corvette rolls in front of me and the window slides down, revealing Charlotte.

"Hop in Talulah." She winks at me and I smile, running into the passenger side of the car. The interior of the car was very retro, which fit Charlotte's aesthetic perfectly.

"How'd you get this car?" I ask, seeing Charlotte slide her sunglasses down her face.

"Archie bought it for me when he got a signing bonus." She twists the key and the engine starts up easily.

"Cool." I run my hands across the interior of the car, feeling the cool black leather against my hands. This car reminded me of Dory, who I had to leave behind in order to come here.

"Did you have a car when you lived in DC?" Charlotte asks, turning her blinker on as we turn into the complex. I shake my head,

"Yes, I had a mini cooper. I named her Dory." I say, waiting to see Charlotte's reaction to the fact that I named my car. She turns the car off and looks at me, her fiery red hair sparkling in the sunlight.

"Really?" She asks, taking the key out of the slot, turning off the car.

"Yes." I get out of the car and look around, my blonde hair smacking me in the face.

"Ow." I mutter, tucking my hair behind my ear. She holds her hand out and for the first time today, I could see her full outfit. She was wearing a loose dress that hugged her torso and was loose on her legs. I smile and grab her hand and she leads me to the music room.

We enter the room and I see all the band members except Matteo tuning their instruments.

"Stargirl!" Tommy sets his guitar down and gently drags me into the room. All eyes fall on me,some unknown. I look around through the frames of my glasses, trying to put some names to the correct faces.

"Hi, Tommy." I mutter, sitting on one of the spinny chairs. The chair was at the highest setting so my feet were dangling off it. Suddenly, all the talking stops. I look up to find a very hungover Archie in the room.

"Glad to see that you're doing better." I muttered, biting back a laugh when I remembered what happened.

"Thanks for dealing with me." He bites back, sarcasm dripping from his tone. I rolled my eyes, it was definite that I liked drunk Archie better than sober Archie.

"I like drunk Archie better. He actually knows how to be kind." I say, crossing my legs and placing my hands on top of that. My hands then moved off my knees and went to my cross as I fidgeted with it.

Archie freezes in his position and looks at me slowly,

"You. Saw. Me. Drunk." He says it slowly as if he was processing the fact that I saw him when he was tipsy.

"Yes. I also dragged you to the hidden room. So? Did the others tell you something different?" I ask, nudging him playfully. He smiles at me briefly before standing up and walking out of the room. I turn to look at the others,

"What did you tell him?" I ask, while playing with my fingers. I hear a muffled laugh come from Tommy who was covering his mouth as his eyes crinkle at the ends,

"We told him that you watched him for two minutes when he was drunk."

"So? I still saw him when he was drunk?" I question, twirling my hair around my fingers. Louie chuckles slightly and the door bursts open,

"SHUT UP!"
