Eighteen-Resume and Racoon Eyes

-One year later-

"Talulah, get your butt up. You have a job for god's sake." The alarm clock, named Rhys, says waking me up from my blissful sleep.

The Araluen situation was something in the past. She came to the apartment and we paid the last of our rent, packing our belongings. The whole process was a bore, really. She tried to be friends again but I could see that she hadn't changed.

Since she had failed at continuing my friendship with me she left for London, accepting Archie's job offer. I told her to contact me when she had learned to put others first. As for Archie's band, I had been in constant contact with them, especially Tommy.

I had moved into Rhys's apartment and we both paid shared rent. I finished Uni and earned my bachelor's degree in English. My English degree allowed me to keep writing so I got a job in a publishing house, second to the president. My job was to find promising authors and connect them to editors.

I was still writing my songs, I would perform them as poetry every Sunday. I would always keep my promises to friends.

"Talulah!" Rhys calls me from downstairs, snapping me out of my thoughts. I brush my teeth and go to my closet to choose what I would be wearing. I pull out my jeans and a v-neck button up, getting dressed. I take out my yellow converses, pulling the laces very tightly.

At my job I have to dress casually because I do so much running around that If I wear a dress then I'll rip it. I walk down the stairs before shouting,

"Hey Rhys, where's my blazer?" I ask, getting a mouthful of blazer from the asked man.

"Thanks." My words were muffled from the fabric. Rhys was playing Violet Hill by Coldplay from the vinyl player. After what happened in London he stopped stanning Archie. He liked the instrumental parts but hated the singing, just like me.

He slides the plate to me and I grab the plate of pancakes, devouring them endlessly.

"So, she-hulk how's your work going?" Rhys asks as I put my plate in the sink. I slip on my blazer,

"It's going as work usually goes. I've been writing a lot of poetry recently though." I say, looking through the cupboards for my backpack.

"The one to your right." He says, opening it and giving my mint tote bag to me. I smile sheepishly,

"Thanks." I say, rubbing the back of my neck. I place my water bottle, lunch, and my iPad pro into it. I tuck my phone into my purse, along with my keys and wallet, walking out the door.

"See ya for lunch Rhys." I say, closing the door after me, making sure that it's locked. I walk down to my bus stop and wait at the bench. I open the twitter app, making myself comfortable.

My twitter starts dinging almost immediately with trending hashtags.

#nomorearchiesongs?!?

#Dodietocreateromancesoundtrack

#Florence+The Machine to perform one last time

My eyebrows furrow almost immediately after seeing the first tag. Archie stopped making songs? It wasn't mentioned in the group chat with Tommy, Louie, and Charlotte. I would make sure to ask them later when we facetime.

The bus comes to a start in front of me and the doors open. I walk up the stairs and grab one of the poles, holding them for dear life since the bus driver is known for making sharp turns.

The bus stops in front of my office and I get off the bus, thanking the bus driver softly. My converse tap softly on the concrete as I walk into the firm.

For first timers, the firm can be very scary on the outside but the inside is the complete opposite. The office has a very Alice in Wonderland vibe to it. I step into the elevator and click the sixth floor button. The elevator goes up with a beep and in no time, It's my floor.

Since I'm the secretary to the president I have an office right outside of his. I started out with interviewing for an editor but then he walked into my interview and told me that I got the job for his secretary. Ever since then I've been working for him.

"Hey Talulah, how are you doing?" My boss, Axel, says. Axel was a young man who got the publishing empire handed to him. His father was the head but when he retired the company was given to Axel.

"I'm good." I say, flashing him a smile. My eyes scanned over his outfit and I frowned, his suit was crumpled and he had bags under his eyes, meaning that he had stayed up late again. I sigh and go to the coffee machine on my floor.

While the cup of coffee was brewing, I went into his closet space, where he kept his spare suits, and grabbed one. I grabbed the coffee and was set off to Axel's office.

I walk into his room and plop the items on his desk,

"Here ya go boss." I say, seeing his brows furrow.

"What is this Talulah?"He asks as I start to explain,

"Change into this suit because you're seeing the sponsors today in four hours. There's coffee because I knew that you stayed up late yesterday, so don't try hiding it from me. Your dark circles are worse than raccoons. Do you need anything else?" I say, sitting comfortably on his couch.

"Thanks love, I owe you one." He says, while I walk out of the office back to my little section.

I sit in my comfy chair and crack my knuckles, today I would have to write emails to editors, assigning them to their author. I pull my tote out, yanking out the files that I spent hours looking over and lay them all around my desk. I plug in my headphones and start to blast the newest Niall Horan song and start to get to work.

"Hello? Hello?" I get taken out of my zone by a middle aged lady knocking on my desk impatiently.

"Yes, how can I help you?" I say looking towards her. She pushes a wad of cash towards me,

"I would like to see Axel please." I raise an eyebrow,

"What's your name?"

"Casey." I look for the name Casey, but see no Casey on the calendar. I smile sympathetically,

"I'm sorry but you don't have an appointment." I say seeing her fume. She motions to the money and looks at Axel who was motioning 'no' multiple times. I subtly nod and push the money back to the lady who was standing in front of me.

"I'm sorry, I really can't let you in. If you don't leave then I will have to call security." I say, emphasizing the last part. She scoffs in anger and walks away.

I turn towards Axel saying,

"You owe me one more."
