Thirty two-Gucci wearing bear
"Ping." My phone pings from beside me as I'm lying in bed. I groan and roll over, putting the phone on top of my face.
From:Axel
Are you ready to work?
To:Axel
I need to talk to you. It's urgent.
From:Axel
Meet me at the firm in two hours.
I slam my phone on the bedside table and roll over, groaning,
"Now I have to try to look good to tell my boss that I'm leaving for two months.Great."
"What?" Rhys screeches, flying into my room with an eyebrow raised.
"I know. How would I approach this, exactly?" I question, rolling my eyes when Rhys starts tugging at my hair. I undo my hair and hand him the rubber band, sighing at the feeling of his rings going through my hair.
His hands wave strands of my hair in and out as he braids the top section of my hair.
"You need to break it to him slowly, and you need to emphasize that you mean no harm." He says, while pinning the last part of my hair around my head.
"So basically like I'm comforting a sleeping bear." I say, getting up from my very comfortable position in my bed.
"Yes, except the sleeping bear wears Gucci and knows english." Rhys adds and shake my head, pointing my finger at him,
"Same thing." He rolls his eyes and gets up from the bed, pulling me off with him,
"Okay, Mrs.Lazy. Let's get you dressed so he can identify you properly."
"Noooooo." I groan out, wanting nothing more than to fall asleep on my cloud like bed.
"Yessssss." He imitates my tone and puts me in front of my closet,
"Choose something, I expect you to be downstairs in ten minutes." He says and shuts the door behind him, humming Swiper No Swiping under his breath.
"That boy, I swear." I mutter, looking through the outfits. I settled on a pink silk button up with a pair of jeans. I cringe at the babydoll pink material but end up dealing with it. I slide my feet into flats and walk downstairs.
I find Rhys in his usual jeans and shirt, spinning the keys to his car on his pointer finger. The keys jangle as it slides on the kitchen table when he sees me,
"Let's go girl!" He screams and I chuckle, this man has over forty different attitudes. I start to walk to where his car is parked when a thought comes to me, why is Rhys coming with me?
"Rhys?" I ask hesitantly, hearing him hum and turn back to face me,
"Yes Talulah?" He asks, walking backwards.
"Why are you coming with me? You do know that I am a big girl." I say, sliding into the passenger seat. He puts the key into the hole and the engine turns to life, causing me to pout in jealousy. His car was so nice compared to Dory who, don't get me wrong, I loved. But his car started so easily and I don't have to pray that it magically starts.
With a pout on my face and a smile on Rhys's, we're off to go to the firm. Rhys hums along to the random pop song playing in the background while I stare off into the distance.
"We're here." Rhys mutters, turning the engine off. I nod, exhaling sharply, here we go. We walk in front of the intimidating building and walk in, hoping for the best.
As soon as we walk in, all eyes fall on Rhys. He continues walking oblivious to the stares he gets, both from boys and girls. I shake my head as we walk into the elevator.
"You good?" Rhys asks, interrupting the generic elevator music.
"Why wouldn't I be?" I ask, trying to look put together to not worry him. He looks at me with an eyebrow raised, his look saying 'don't pull that with me.'
"I'm good." I reaffirm him and he nods, walking out the elevator. I grab his wrist, leading to my desk,
"Stay here." I say sternly, walking towards Axel's desk. Before I could open the door his hand wraps around my wrist and he yanks me back.
"I won't." He whispers, causing me to look up at him, pouting.
"Please, I need to talk to him alone and I won't be able to do that with you in the room." I plead and he raises his eyebrows,
"Duh." He says and my hope starts to rise. But then he adds,
"That's not the definition of alone if I join you in there." I drop my shoulders and stare at him.
"Thanks Merriam-Webster ." I say, sarcasm dripping from my voice He winks,
"You're welcome Talulah." He says, letting me go. I push my hand towards the knob when Rhys adds,
"Say my name if you need support." I nod my head and turn the knob. The door creaks as I open the door, Axel's head lifts up and he smiles when he sees me.
"Talulah. Sit down." He says, straightening his suit and gesturing for me to sit down. I sit on the couch and play with the loose strings on my jeans.
"What do you need to talk to me about?" He asks, and he pours himself a drink. He gestures to me, asking if I wanted a drink and I shake my head, I would need to stay sober for this.
"I would like to resign from my position as your assistant." I say, playing with my fingers nervously. Axel spits his drink out and gets up, quickly moving next to me,
"Why would you want to resign? Do you need a raise cause I can provide you with one. Or is it because of this man cause I can call the cops for you, he wouldn't know." He rushes out and I shake my head quickly, not wanting to worry him over nothing.
"It's nothing of the sort, I got a job offer to be a writer in London and that's my dream job." I exclaim, trying to calm him down.
"I- I can get you a job here as a writer, we'll give you the best publicity, anything you want." He moves closer to me as I press my back against the couch. My heart rate goes up as he comes closer,
"I'm sorry but I'm taking the job and it's final. I put my foot down and walked out of his office, leaving him standing there like a wounded puppy not hearing what he said as I left,
"But I love you Talulah."
