Once Stevie was all cried out, I asked her to go lie down for a while, she could barely stand up straight. Not just because of what happened, but she also hasn't been feeling well for a few days. I told her to stop thinking and worrying, that I would take care of Sara and answer the phone, which has been ringing nonstop.
Sara isn't co-operating today either. She's been very fussy, she didn't eat and she wouldn't go down for a nap. I'm not sure what else to do other than sit down and try soothing her. Of course Stevie would get her to calm down in a split second, but I'll let her rest.
When I have our daughter with her eyes halfway closed, the phone rings again, I have to pick it up, people must be going crazy, well, our friends. I find out it's Mick.
"How is she?"
"How do you think, Mick?"
"Stupid question, sorry. I just don't know what to say... People can't possibly buy that nonsense."
"I pray to god they don't. Nothing, not a single thing in that article is true."
"I know, Linds, you don't have to tell us."
"I have no idea of what to do. She's completely exhausted from crying, she's been asleep for the past two hours."
"Good, let her."
"I'm sitting here with Sara, looking at her beautiful innocent face and I can't stop creating plans of how to kill that bastard."
"Now, slow down, buddy. We don't want you in jail, you won't be any good in there."
"It's so frustrating!"
"I'm sure it is. Hey, if there's anything any of us can do to help in any way, we're only a phone call away."
"Yeah, thanks Mick. I appreciate it and I'm sure Stevie will to."
"You'll pull through, you're strong the pair of you."
"... Mick?"
"Still here."
"We're not taking part in this tour..."
"Don't even think about it, Lindsey. We'll postpone, we'll cancel, doesn't matter. You have to deal with this first."
"Thank you."
"No need. Again, call me."
"Sure. Thanks for the support. Sara's falling asleep on me, I should take her upstairs."
"Oh, of course. Later."
"Yeah, bye."
I hang up and cause slight movement and those same brown eyes that have haunted me forever now flutter open again. "No, baby... Sleep, Sara. A little girl like yourself needs beauty sleep, sweetheart." I try, but she just stares at me. She smiles and grips my finger. I can't help but shed a few tears myself. I love her so much.

I don't know for how long I've been sitting in the same position on the couch in the living room, when I feel Stevie's arms wrap around my neck from behind, we smile as best we can at each other and share a brief kiss.
"Did you get any rest at all?"
"Yeah, I slept for some time." She sits beside me and rubs Sara's back, who's lying on my chest. "And you two?"
"I think she's been missing you, she's not my best friend today."
"She's definitely got an attitude problem."
"Wonder where she got that from?" I tease and it eases the tension a little. "Mick called, he's here for us if we need help with anything."
"Okay. Did you tell him?"
