Code 9 ↬ [ P.SH ]

Chapter 2:

"Eat up." Ms. Kim, a doctor pushed a plate close to the girl. Haneul sternly looked at the elder and shook her head. The doctor sighed, "Haneul, just eat."

The girl who is apparently named 'Haneul' gave up and followed what the elder said. "The toughest trainee, that's what they call you. And I'm agreeing." Ms. Kim chuckled. Haneul showed no emotion, "I'm finished eating, you can leave now."

With a hum, the doctor left the girl alone in her room. Before heading out, "Don't act so mean, blue." a hint of sarcasm lingering in her voice.

Blue.

10 years ago..

"Wake up, little girl. Get out of the van." A man harshly pulled her out of the vehicle making her whimper.
"Where are we, mister?" her voice sounded as innocent as ever. Making the men feel a little guilty.

"No questions." Someone cleared their throat. "Come follow us." she was again, grabbed by a number of men. She looked around where they were heading. The logo "KQ" is seen everywhere. She was slightly confused on what it meant but she never questioned it.

"First kid, madam." They bowed to a woman, maybe around 30-35 years old, well- that's what she guessed since she was just 7.

"Mhm.... Bring her to Seo, he'll know what to do." She chuckled. All of them nodded and brought her to a different room. The place seemed to look like a laboratory, with people wearing white coats.

"Mr. Seo, we'll hand the kid over." Haneul was shoved onto a chair.
She looked around and saw that she's the only kid inside, except for one other.

"What's your name, sweetheart?" The man named 'Mr. Seo' asked. "Kim Haneul." the girl tried to sound firm. "A beautiful name." He smiled. "Now, I'm just going to run some few tests to see which color you are."

"Color?" she was clueless. "The color system. Kids are gaining abilities like fire and electricity. They're seperated into five groups. Sharpness of mind- green, telekinesis- blue, electricity- purple, fire- red and lastly, manipulation- black." Mr. Seo rubbed alcohol on her hand before inserting a needle on the girl's neck.

"What? Why?" she didn't understand what was going on. "To make the system organized. Now, stay focused for me just for a second."

Silence filled the room. Haneul was nervously looking back and forth to Mr. Seo and the other kid. She saw him furrow his eyebrows.
"That's unusual." he clicked his tongue before examining the results again.

Haneul turned her gaze to the other kid who's also in the room. She saw how his eyes turn pure black and how the 'nurse' in his company seemed to be hypnotized. She widened her eyes and her mouth fell agape.
'He's a black.' cool.

"That's really strange..... I always know what color the kid is..." Mr. Seo spoke. She turned to the man and tilted her head to the side. "What's going on, Mr. Seo?" the man sighed and smiled sadly. He turned to the nurse and whispered something on her ear. The nurse nodded and scurried away.

"We have to eliminate you. I'm sorry." Her confusion grew more.
As soon as she realized what he meant. Her eyes glowed black, just like what the kid did earlier. "You won't eliminate me, I'm a blue." She ordered. Mr. Seo nodded and made a report to the staffs. "Kim Haneul, blue."

She realized what she did and let out a small gasp. "Haneul, please follow Lia. She'll take you to the blues." Mr. Seo guided her to the nurse.

Present...

"I'm still confused on how I did that. Am I a black? Shouldn't I be in black then?" Haneul questioned herself, only to ruffle her hair in frustration.
"Fuck the color system." She spat.
