( Chapter Thirty-Six² )

WE LOOK LIKE LIGHTING

real life ft. Diana !

"What song do you want to die to?"

"Hmm"

"This might sound crazy but I forgot what month it is again. I'm half awake, there too much beer and tequila in my stomach."

I pressed my head against the cold glass window as the rain continued pouring, surrounding the car. So much so if you stayed still for a second it would look like it wasn't even raining at all.
The low hum of a random radio station filled my right ear, filling my brain with nonsense thoughts.

I looked over towards Niall, "I know it's wrong but I swear to God it's almost Christmas."

"You're speaking nonsense. And to think they thought Zayn was drunk, did they even notice you?" He laughed, shaking his head as he looked out the windshield.

"That radio- it's hurting my head. Can you turn it off?" I asked as I placed my forehead back on the cold window but before I could concentrate on the sound of the rain, something started playing in my head. A low pitch hum, filling my eardrums as it seemed to descend in half steps.

It was almost like my brain was trying to communicate with me.

Aren't those just called thoughts- that's not the point. "Wait-" I stopped Niall, moving his hand off the volume dial.

He gave me a questioning look, "Didn't you just ask me to-"

"Do you hear that?" I questioned him, moving my head around trying to find the low pitch humming sound that seemed to surround me.

"I- uh- I think I'm a little too drunk." I shook my head in an effort to try and get rid of the sound. "Yeah, it's probably because I'm too intoxicated."

"I agree with you there...question."

"Hmm."

"What was that question you asked earlier? The one- what was it. Oh! What song do you want to die to?"

"..."

"In a language, I don't understand. There's a shaking voice on the PA. The other passengers seem nervous." I mumbled under my breath. "I need a notebook- or paper. Something. Anything." I inquired, searching the car for something to write on. Coming up empty-handed I looked over to Niall. "You better remember everything I'm saying. I need to remember everything. Everything."

"Okay, darlin'. Get some sleep now. You're not making any sense." He reached his hand behind him, grabbing his tux jacket, handing it to me. I thanked him as I placed it over my body.

I looked out the window as lightning lit up the sky. It looked like it was jumping for cloud to cloud, raindrop to raindrop. I gasped as another on stuck throughout the sky, an outline of a plane moving through the dark sky flashed with the lightning. Its red lights seemed to be growing closer and closer.

One second it was there, the next they perished.

"What song do you want to die to?"

I forgot what month it is again
I'm half awake
I know it's wrong but I swear to God it's almost Christmas
In a language, I don't understand
There's a shaking voice on the PA
The other passengers seem nervous

I'm playing "What Song Do You Wanna Die To?"
What song do you...

I'm suddenly aware of our speed
See the world together tightly
Cinch the gaps with pins and string
And the beacon out there on the wing
It lights the clouds from inside out
And from the ground, we look like lightning

I'm playing "What Song Do You Wanna Die To?"
What song do you...

I'm everywhere at once again
I hear the ocean in the engine
I feel the moonlight creeping in
Maybe it's all in my head
An unknown foreign presence in your bloodstream
I'm a stranger in my bed

I'm playing "What Song Do You Wanna Die To?"
"What Song Do You Wanna Die To?"
"What Song Do You Wanna Die To?"
"What Song Do You Wanna Die To?"
What song do you?

I'm flashing back to us one night in a prairie town
(Tornado alley, outrunning a storm)
They can see the dirt there under my fingernails
(I'm just a pile of bone left on an airport floor)
The bags under my she's have got space when you bottom out
(To pack your things and make a break for the door)
One day the things you love see gonna put you in the ground
(But I plan on running 'til I can't run anymore)

What song do you wanna die to?
What song do you wanna die to?
What song do you wanna die to?
What song do you?
What song do you?
What song do you?
