"I won't let you die, I still have a lot of self-work to do, but one day, I'll make you happy... it's what she would've wanted..." Raven looked at me, she took my face and turned it so I was looking at her, then she kissed me. She kissed me with all her love and what's left of her humanity. The kiss felt warm, unlike before, but she showed me that she had what I feared she had lost the most...
Raven broke the kiss and touched my forehead with hers. We stayed in that position for a couple minutes, I was still crying while she was shushing trying to comfort me.
"I know it's hard, you shouldn't have seen that." She stroked my cheek repeatedly with her thumb and even if she had tried comforting me, her words only made me cry more. I knew I shouldn't have seen that, but in this world it's considered normal. People are even considered lucky if they didn't see their parents get executed... it's the main cause of death amongst us.
"We should get inside, I'm gonna make you a hot chocolate and we can cuddle, unless you wanted to sleep, or something else... you know what, just tell me what you wanted to do, i'll make it happen." Raven talked fast, showing she was nervous, but I knew she tried her best to make me feel better and I appreciated it.
"Can we go buy donuts and coffee?" My eyes were red and you could still hear the pain in my voice, but I just wanted to get out of here...
"Hum, yeah sure," Raven said hesitantly, "you're not going to do something, right? Like you won't run away or walk in traffic?"
"I wont, I'll stay by your side."
"Good, because if you try to get away, you won't survive. If a natural cause doesn't kill you first, then a vampire sure will. You're like meat here, so stay aware of it." Raven took my hand and lead my in the house.
"Did you want to take a bath before, you're soaking wet." I nodded, hearing my teeth clapping from shivering.
She led me upstairs to the bathroom and started the water. She looked at me, clearly thinking of something, then she took a bottle and poured the liquid in the bath. Bubbles started forming on top of the water.
"Thank you." I looked at her, my eyes still holding tears in, and smiled. She came closer and hugged me.
"It's gonna be okay, I'm here... i'll try my best to not hurt you anymore, I promise. I'm so sorry I put you through all this..." At the end of her sentence, I could hear that she was holding tears in too. I hugged her tighter, showing her that I appreciated what she just said and I really hoped she meant all of it.
The bath was now ready, so I started taking my clothes off, but noticed that Raven wasn't doing the same. "Are you coming with me?" I asked her.
"I didn't think you would want me with you," she answered scratching the back of her neck.
"That didn't stop you before." I took off the rest of my clothes and approached her. I looked up to her and pushed the hair away from her face. I could feel a bit of blood rushing into my face, she was so beautiful. It's hard not falling for someone who looked this good and even if she's usually a bad person, I could feel that she was hiding the best part of herself. I always saw the best in people, that's why I cried for my parents I guess...
Raven took off her clothes and sat in the bathtub. I got on the opposite side so we could be face to face, but she pulled me and brought me in her lap so I wasn't facing her. She wrapped her arms around my waist, kissed my neck and played with my hair a little bit. I snuggled closer to her as I was enjoying being loved for the first time.
She turned me around so my legs were straddling her beneath the water and took my face in both her hands. I didn't look at her, afraid that I would fall in the haze.
"Can you look at me, Bee?" I could feel that she really needed me to look at her.
"But what about the haze," I asked her.
"I control it... I just didn't want you to know at that moment." Raven clarified chuckling a bit. My eyes squinted knowing she tricked me, but I was happy that she was telling me now.
So I looked at her, and felt a shiver run down my spine. Her eyes always did this to me, but somehow I felt comfort in them. With no sclera, it seemed like you could get lost in them, and since she was older than most vampires, hers were a deep red. It looked like blood, but when the sun hits her face perfectly, you can see a little bit of gold in them. Those eyes had seen so much things and even if I didn't know Raven's story yet, I knew that it wasn't rainbows and flowers. It's obvious when you have been through a lot of pain, you know what it looks like, and Raven... had the most pained eyes I've ever seen.
"Are you okay, love? You seem lost in your thoughts," she said looking concerned.
"Oh, yeah I'm fine, I was just... lost in your eyes." I cringed at my own words. Raven smiled and hugged me. When she broke the hug and looked back at me, I could see her tearing up a bit.
"Are you okay? You keep tearing up, you never cry..."
"Yeah, yeah," she chuckled and wiped her eyes, "you just remind me of someone." She smiled softly, letting me know it was a good thing.
