Sophia's POV

   

"G-Good evening po." Gerry smiled uneasily and was about to offer his hand for some Filipino respect for the older ones.

  

But mom refused it and turned her back. "Pumasok ka at nakakahiya naman sa suot mo kung hidi kita patutuluyin." She said in terror.

   
Gerry was on his suit and tie. Mukhang may dinaan pa itong business. Pero bahagyang nalungkot ako ng makitang angingitim ang ilalim ng mata nito at may patubong bigote na rito na nasa dalawang araw na mahigit hindi naaahit.

    

Nagkatinginan kami ni Gerry.

  

Nginitian ko siya to uplift his mood.

   

Pero natuwa ako ng ngumiti ito sakin na tila hindi man lang nasisindak pero kita kong pinapawisan ang noo nito.

   

"Sorry . . ." I mouthed.

  

Mabilis na lumapit sakin ito at hinalikan ang tuktok ng buhok ko pero ahad ding lumayo sa takot na baka bigla kaming lingunin ni mommy.

    

I closed the door.

   

Mommy shifted herself, facing us this time. Gerry was standing beside me.

   

"Have your seat." Tinaasan ni mommy ng kilay si Gerry. "Hindi pwedeng dumadalaw ka rito ng hindi pa kita nakikilala."

   

I looked up to Gerry, saw his Adam's apple moved.

   

"O-Opo." Sabi nito at lumakad sa upuang katapat ng kinauupuan ko kanina.

  

Mom scrutinizes him from head to toe. "How tall are you?"

   

"I'm 6 feet and 2 inches tall po." Gerry answered respectfully.

  

Mom nodded for knowing. "What's your work? Kaya ko bang buhayin ang anak ko?"

  

I walked to my mom. "Mom, naman you shouldn't be asking him about it. I can make a living for myself."

   

Tinapunan ako nito ng mapanaksak na tingin. "Maupo ka at kakausapin ko kayong dalawa."

   

I heaved a sigh and sat on my seat. Naupo rin si mommy sa upuan nito. I was sitting at her left side, while Gerry was on her right. She's at the end of the table.

   

She looked to Gerry. "Hindi mo na sinagot ang tanong ko."
