Narrator's perspective
"Can't imagine that you are all grown up." Camille faked a sob while she hugged her sister dramatically as if she'll die. "It seems like yesterday you would pull my hair for being a brat." She got pushed away by Hope who look unamused.
They were still in New Orleans for the twins birthday so they have all the time in the world to do whatever they want without any annoying students who'll get in their way. It's currently sunrise and Camille made sure she's awake to annoy her sibling the most before her family beats her to it.
"We're twins idiot." She deadpanned only to be hushed by Camille who told her to don't ruin the moment in a dramatic tone. "If you're done crying like an imbecile—"
"—Alright alright jesus. For the record, I'm still 17 thanks to my Vampire self." She retorted, bringing her normal voice back and pointed her finger. "But you're 18! God, you are getting old."
Hope rolled her eyes, slumping down her bed in defeat. Even at teasing, she would always be defeated by her sister. "It's our birthday." She whispered only for Camille to scoff saying 'No shit'. "I'm serious!"
"I am too if you think about it." Camille shrugged, sitting down on her bed while she looked at her sister lying down in hers. She discreetly leaned backwards to the drawer behind her and took the small bracelet she bought. "Here, catch." She tossed the present to Hope's stomach making sat up and gave her a questionable look.
A hit of realisation dawned on her. "Camille—"
"—I didn't have to but yes I did. Just open it, took a lot to make my choice." She shooed the girl sending a teasing smirk when her chin plopped to her palm. "It's also expensive but hey, Vampire Compulsion came at a perk."
Hope wanted to roll her eyes but then again, she just received a gift. Instead she thanked her and opened it only to see a bracelet, engraved on the silver was 'Always' which reminded her of Hayley saying that. "When did you even have time to get this made?"
"A simple thank you would have sufficed." The Tribrid glanced and meet with dead serious eyes which made her sigh. "Aunt Rebekah was distracting you with her many changes of clothing. Now, I owe her dinner tomorrow." She sucked in a breathe of air as a joke.
"But I didn't get you anything!" She shouted and looked at the laughing girl who was deeply amused.
"The gift you gave me was immortality. Gives me many years to rub it in your face that you didn't get me a gift for our lovely 18th birthday. Also, I'll tattletale to your children in the future, Give them a heads up if their own mother forgot to buy a gift."
Hope finally breaks and laughs "You are ridiculous, You know that right?" She tossed her the empty box and wore the silver around her wrist, admiring how perfect it looked.
"Wouldn't be me if I wasn't." She shrugged and heard the silent footsteps rush up the stairs. "Also, prepare yourself sis." She said and waited patiently when the door came busting open.
Hope could only look at her in a confused look before the door opened, revealed her family just by the door. The two laughed when they saw Kol and Rebekah smudged with frosting on their faces. It was clear who was the culprit as evidence on his hands.
"Happy birthday!" They all greeted and went towards them for a hug. Klaus had the first one with Hope and kissing her on top of her head before going to Camille on doing the same thing.
The twins gaze landed on Rebekah and Kol again which they pointed at their father "I confess, I might have overdone the frosting." Klaus said, his hands up with the light blue cloud on his fingertips. Camille and Hope shared a laugh and got pulled downstairs for breakfast.
