Miserable at Best

Chapter 8: Who's There?

I kinda had some trouble with the title of this part... But still I managed to fix that. :) So yeah.. Here 'ya go! Chapter 8: Who's There? ^_^

The next day is quiet better than the past days. I didn't even get paranoid last night and my sleep is peaceful... At least. But tonight I am alone in this apartment again because Andrej went out to fix another things again. I'm curious about that thing for he's so busy for that. Maybe it's his job... But I wonder why it has to be on nighttime...

Just to be less depressed, I shake that thought out of my head and wait for him to come back. He said he'll be late, but I'm still not sleepy and just bored to do something so I decided to just wait for him.

As I sit on the couch, I thought I heard a scratching noise from the kitchen. So I turn around to see what it is. Nothing. I just shrugged it off and think maybe it's only the wind from the window.

I get the remote and flipped the television on. After searching through different channels, I didn't find anything interesting so I just turn it off and plopped down on the couch.

"Andrej... Andrej... Where are you?..." I hummed softly putting it in tunes.

I closed my eyes and swing my legs as I lay on the couch. Then I felt something walked pass and brushed against my legs. So I quickly jolted up and look around. I scanned the whole apartment and looked in every places in it. Then I frowned and mentally asked myself if what was that.

I sighed and put my hands on my head.

"Here goes my,paranoia again..." I said as I shook my head.

I get up and decided to wait him outside the building. Because I'm starting to feel uncomfortable and scared inside. I closed the door behind me as I went out and walked down the dimly lit hallway. I was already in front when I remembered to put some jacket on.

"Shit..." I mumbled.

I turn around and walked back to the apartment. I stopped on my pace when I caught something passed on the light. I started to have goosebumps and chills ran down my spine. I am easily frightened especially in the dark, so I started to get nervous and my heart starts to beat fast.

I quickly turn on my heels again and just forget about the jacket. Then I ran down the stairs fast until I reach the ground floor. I stop and look around when I reach the floor. The main door is closed and the whole place is so dark. The only light that passes inside is from the window of the main door. I slowly made my way to the door with my shaking legs and body. My footsteps echoed in the hallway as I walk. But then in the middle, I started to hear another footsteps from behind me.

I shut my eyes and fasten my pace. But the footsteps seem to fasten their pace, too. I ignored the thing and just keep on walking. Cold sweats starts to build up on my temple as my legs tried to be faster. I was about to reach the door when I felt something passed beside me.

I jumped out and screeched before I completely fell on the ground. I keep my eyes shut and pressed my hands on both of my ears as I sit on the ground. I bit my lips when I heard the footsteps again and then I started to feel presence beside me.

"Andrej, Andrej, Andrej!" I said softly as I sit shaking on the ground.

I put my knees up to my chest and curled up in a ball. I stayed on that position as I feel the presence still reeling around me.

It was after like fifteen minutes until the presence is gone. But I keep on my place to be safe and to calm my nerves down. I breathe heavily as I rock my body to ease the heavy feeling. Then I heard the door creaked and someone stepped inside.

"Amanda?" I quickly shot my head up when I heard Andrej's voice echoed in the hall.

"Andrej!" I cried and quickly ran up to him.

I throw my arms around him and sighed when I finally feel safe. "Oh God I'm so scared!" I sobbed against his chest.

He wrapped his arms around me and hushed me down.

"Hey, I'm here now, okay? Stop crying..." He whispered softly in my ears.

I tightened my grip around him.

"Come on, let's go back up there." He said and then we started to walk back upstairs and into his room.

I look around as we walk down the hall. The darkness and silence give chills down my spine and the whole surrounding horrifies just horrifies me to death.
