Miserable at Best

Chapter 7: The Room

Andrej said he'd only go out for a while to do something important. I didn't bother to ask him where he'd go or what's that important thing. Although that made me curious about himself.

He told me before he left that I can do anything that I want while he's gone. He said I can eat anything in the fridge and even left me money if I wanted to order something. He also told me about the house phone and left his number on the speed dial in case something bad happen. He told me every good things that I can do while he's gone, but there's one thing he told me not to do. He told me not to come inside his room strictly.

His apartment is good enough for the two of us to stay in. We also manage to sleep in the couch every night. But he never ever let me go or even let me have a peek inside his room. Well I don't have a care on that room since the day I came here, but when he told about it to me before, I just began to get curious.

I started to wonder why he strictly doesn't want me to get near that room. Well he doesn't look like the type of people who keeps secrets, but the way he warn me about it somewhat tells me that I'm gonna be in a big trouble if ever I disobey him. And I don't want to be in trouble with him so I just stayed silent and keep the thing off my mind.

I decided to make some homemade tacos and turned the television on. I flipped through some channels before I stopped on the news.

Breaking News: One Family Got Murdered Again Last Night With The Same Method Of Killing

One whole family- a father, a mother, and two girls aging 13 and 16- were murdered again last night at the approximated time of 9:57 in the evening. Investigations showed that the said victims were killed by the same method used in all of the past killing attacks. Police said the weapon used by the killer was still a kitchen knife, and being stabbed on the bodies of the poor victims, just like the other discoveries. But still, this killer is unknown to the authority, and still has it's freedom to go around and find his another victim. So the authority now is getting more cautious and gives further warnings to the town people to make sure that they're safe and they keep in touch with them all the time. Because they are noticing that these killing attacks are getting more and more often as the time pass. So we're warning all of you who's watching now, always keep your eyes on everything and be alert on any happenings around you.

My mind is so focused and my eyes are glued on the television the whole time. The said killing attacks are really getting out of hand right now. And I think living in this town isn't safe anymore. But I'm thankful I'm still alive and so is Andrej and my dad. But with that I started to think and wonder about him again. I can't stop thinking what is he doing right now...

"What are you doing?" Andrej suddenly spoke up behind me that made me to literally jumped on the couch.

"Damn Andrej you scared me! Don't you dare do that again!" I glared at him and picked up the pieces of my food that fell when I jumped.

I heard him chuckled and walked in the kitchen.

"Well sorry! Your too occupied to what you're watching so I didn't disturb you.." He said as he walked in that part of the house.

"Well yeah," I sighed. "I just watched this news about the killing attacks that's happening in town. And I can say it's really getting out of hands now." I said and take a bite on my food.

"You think so?" He asked as he walked up to me with a glass of water in his hand. "Well I think it's on the authority. They have the cases in their hands yet they aren't doing something to it." He said and sat on the other edge of the couch.

"What do you mean?.." I frowned at him as I take another bite of my food.

"Well I just noticed, they already know that those killing attacks are becoming more serious, and they're discovering the crime more often in the whole town. But still they're not doing anything to stop it. Like they just show to the people they're working, even if they're not." He explained and get one taco on the plate.
