As the several slow weeks went by, just last week, her doctor had cleared her to go back to the surface. She wasn't quite allowed off house arrest yet though. She had to have someone with her at all times, unless she was in the house. Either house for that matter. Amilia spent most of her days on the computer, catching up on schoolwork that she has missed. He was worried almost all the time. He usually was when Amilia was hurt and she always admired that, but she still was getting sick of his constant staring. She finished up her homework for the day and decided to go see her mother. Oglm followed her to her mother's house and from there Cristel took over.
"How have you been?" She asked Amilia.
"Better." Amilia paused a minute. "Can I go around the Market by myself today?" She asked looking at her mom with pouty eyes. Her mom shook her head.
"You know I can't do that." She said with a scorn. "If they catch even a smug slip up, then I could lose you completely during your recovery, maybe even after. If you would like to call one of your friends to walk around with you, that would be fine, but someone has to be with you." Amilia puckered her lips and then looked off away from her mother. She opened her phone and began to scroll, she didn't know who exactly to call. She didn't want to call anyone for that matter either. But she didn't want to be followed around by her mother or Oglm. She had had quite enough of their constant yammering. She knew Elsie was at work, Jasvinder went with his father out of town and Leo was just being Leo in the arena. She didn't know who to call that wouldn't pick apart her every move. I mean, she gets it, her mother is worried that she'll get hurt again and Oglm probably feels the same way. Neither of them were there, so they feel a different way for sure. She went to the stairs and went up to her room and closed the door. She opened the window.
"Nim!" She screamed. Amilia turned around and crossed her arms Nim appeared in the window frame.
"Can I help you?"
"I need a chaperone and I can't think of anyone else."
"Your mom and Oglm driving you though?"
"More than you want to believe."
"Eh, I've been there. You can come to work with me today. See what I do and stuff." She said rolling her eyes.
"Really? You want me to come with you to work?"
"Well if I'm the only sane option for you left, then yes, I invite you to come." They both walked down the stairs and past her mother.
"Bye, Cristel, I'll be with Nim." Nim waved to her mother and then they both left through the front door. Nim quickly got in front of Amilia and stopped. This made Amilia stop as well.
"I'm not going to tell you to stay near me at all times." Nim started. "But you have to stay in the building and keep this on you." Nim handed her small walkie talkie.
"What is this for?"
"It has a homing beacon in it. So I can track your location the whole time you are with me. And if you happened to get attacked, then you can call me for help."
"Ah."
"Now come along, we'll take the train." Amilia followed Nim and they reached the station. Within seconds they were out of the Market and near the place Nim called 'work'. It looked like a house more than a workshop. But Amilia knew this place all too well. She liked the people who worked at the place, they were all very nice. Nim never seemed to be happy there though. She was always stressed and anxious. Finally they entered a big area that was basically an underground workshop. It was full of all different kinds of gemstones, anywhere from pearl to diamond. They were all working and the diamonds seemed to keep getting onto the other gemstones nerves. And eventually a Lapis Lazuli slapped them, it didn't stop them, of course.
