Thanksgiving came upon them all too quickly. It seemed like Amilia was busy all the time. Every night she was away, and during the day she had school. Oglm would see her only briefly in the morning. He seemed to worry about her but never had a chance to confront her. He could never find her in the Market or at his house. Oglm started to wonder where she always wandered off to and hoped that she would be home for this holiday. Oglm threw the salad as it was all together in the bowl. He set the salad aside and started on the potatoes and then onto the turkey. Next he took out the traditional cranberry sauce. After the table was set, he looked around. He was pretty proud of himself, as proud as he could be. Finally people started to show up. Over the years his thanksgiving grew and grew. First it was him himself and then Seyoek next Amilia and this year it was everyone including Yxeyhfkx and Cristell. Most everyone had shown up by now, yet, he was still waiting for Amilia. She wasn't typically late, but now... Oglm wasn't so sure. She had been tardy quite a few days, like she never had before. Amilia was a usual "on time" and "punctual" person. After a fair amount of time Oglm finally called people to the table. Everyone sat down of course, and got food. Seyoek was her usual clingy self and held onto Oglm for a while. Oglm didn't touch any of the food that Seyoek had so kindly dished out for him. He just sat there staring at the empty seat across the table, He knew Amilia should be there, but why did he feel the way he did? He was more worried about her than he had been in the past about Seyoek. Even when Seyoek showed up twenty minutes late one night!
"Oglm, sweet heart, you need to eat. You'll get famished." Seyoek patted his stomach. He still stared off into the distance, still at that empty chair. "Oglm?" Seyoek said. She slapped him across the face. That didn't help much though. That forced him to look at the clock and recognize how much time had went by. Seyoek grabbed his face after shaking her head. "Are you alright." he shoved her off and then backed his chair up awkwardly. He stood up fast and bulted out to the back deck. It was raining, there was no question about it. He stood outside with his hand to his chin. He paced back and forth for a while. Seyoek put her hand to her head and then looked to him.
"Is anything the matter?" Cristell asked her. Seyoek looked up to her.
"I'm just worried about him. I guess I don't know what to say. He's worried about something, I know it, but..." she paused to change her hand position. "He won't tell me, whenever I ask...- he just pushes me off."
"Give him time." Cristell said. Seyoek looked up to her. "He will tell you when he is ready, there is no doubt. The relationship you two have is special... I doubt anything could break you two apart." Cristell pointed to the empty seat. "That's what he's worried about." she paused. "He's become a father. And like every father he is worried about his child. Amilia to him will always be his little girl. When she is late, especially half an hour late, he will get restless. Trust me, when she arrives he will be better." she reached to Seyoek and touched her gracefully. "But until then, try to enjoy yourself, the best you can." she smiled and looked to Cristell. Seyeok resumed her meal. Then she chuckled.
"Well, I can see what father he will be. I can't wait then." Oglm came back in and sat down, he was not wet. He tapped his fingers on the table. He turned around.
"She should have been her by now, she's never been so late..."
"Sorry, I know I'm late." Amilia said coming through the back door. She scurried over to the table as quick she could throwing off her coat onto the couch. Oglm sat back in his chair as soon as she sat down. "Late, late, all I am is late." she went on laughing. Of course she took the food he had cooked.
"You're not Nsefen again are you?" Oglm asked her. Yxeyhfkx nearly choked, he looked cluelessly at Oglm. Amilia laughed.
"No, of course not." she said in between laughing and eating. "She didn't eat last time." Yxeyhfkx put his hand in the air.
"Excuse me but, Nsefen?"
"Yes!" they both yelled together looking at him.
"Just forget it." Amilia said finishing the food on her plate. She got up and put the plate into the sink. Amilia started up the stairs. Oglm ran to the end of them.
"Amilia!" he yelled up the stairs. "Amilia!" he ran up the stairs after her.
"Oglm!" Seyoek said. "You must leave her alone." she could her Oglm trying to open her door.
"Amilia! Amilia, what's wrong? You've been skipping class, i can't find you anywhere, you come back so late, you were so late tonight! Amilia, open this door! Open it now!" he finally opened the door to her room, Seyoek was behind him. The window was open and Amilia wasn't in the room. He ran to the window and looked as much as he could through and around it. Oglm looked back to Seyoek.
"You can't keep them all." She simply said to him.
