Delaying The Inevitable: AU1 Chapter 9

"The world the way I saw it..." Ethan repeated Evelyn words after our consultation, lost deep in thought.

"Ethan?" I raised a brow.

"That's what Evelyn said about her exhibition tonight. It's the world the way she saw it..."

"Do you think that something in her art might reveal something in her vision?"

"It's worth a shot at least. What do you say Valentine? We have to wait on the tests anyway...Shall we swing by the gallery tonight?" He raised his brow.

I raised mine to match ever so slightly and smiled gently. "Sure..."

He nodded and said "Meet you in the atrium in 15." Before walking down the hall.

I have prepared myself for such situation where I may be required to wear something not so casual. Whether its having dinner with friends straight after work or possibly an event...such as now.

And I know Ethan would approve. Which is not my only motivation...or maybe it is.

"Sienna!" I called out to her as I headed towards the locker rooms.

"Hey! Hows everything going with Ms De La Vega?"

"Ethan thinks he has a lead.We're going to go to her exhibition to see if her art can leave any signs." I said.

"You and Ramsey hm?" She raised her brow with a smile.

"Yes, me and Ramsey." I smiled and shook my head.

"Don't be back too late." She playfully nudged my shoulder as she went past.

"Very funny." I rolled my eyes and continued on my way.

Ethan.

I'm not quite sure what i'm doing here.

Of course this is for the benefit of a patient, but I could have simply gone on my own, invited Baz or June...but I think...or more or less I know, that I do in fact just want to spend more time with Valentine outside of work.

We have agreed to try harder. For both of our own benefits, but that is proving more difficult than I could ever imagine. I knew going over that edge all those months ago, I wouldn't be able to go back and no matter how hard I try... she has hold on me like no other.

15 minutes had passed and I lifted my head from finding the address on my phone to the sound of heels clicking across the atrium floor.

I gulped ever so slightly, but enough that I wanted to pinch myself.

She wore a knee length emerald green dress, the bottom half wrapped about and cinched on one side, parting into a slit that revealed more of her beautiful tanned legs. A gold belt held everything in place and about her neck was a diamond pendant...

She is simply the most alluring woman I have ever met.

"Doctor Ramsey." She smiled.

"Doctor Valentine. You dressed adequate for the occasion." I nodded.

"Of course. This is Evelyn's big night and I wanted to look good."

"Hm. I see...shall we?"

"We shall."

After a short drive, we arrived at the building and as we walked up the steps, I turned to Ethan.

"You know...We are going to be most likely the only people from the hospital here..."

"Most likely?" He raised a brow.
