The next day after our visit to Leland Bloom's house, I went back to the diagnostics office with some lab results that we had ran. While we would be more than happy to give Mr Bloom to MK, there is no place to be thinking like that. He may be...a difficult patient with some... arguable beliefs, I suppose you could say, but he's a patient none of the less.

And after interacting with Tobias Carrick, he is the last person I want this hospital to lose to.

The last person I want Ethan to lose to.

I walked into the diagnostics office where Ethan was sitting alone, pouring over notes and a medical journal. When he heard the soft click of the door behind me, he looked up.

"Valentine."

"Ramsey." I took the seat next to him.

"Are those the lab results?" He said as he put his pen down.

"Yep. He's showing high levels of protein in his urine in addition to the presence of red blood cells."

"which could indicate what?" he raised a brow,

I thought for a second and pushed my hair back, racking my brain for an answer.

"His high blood pressure and pain could indicate endocarditis but there was no evidence of bacteria or fungi in his blood tests. His white blood cell count also ruled out Hodgkin lymphoma and lupus."

He nodded and said "What do you think it is?"

"The protein plus the elevated potassium tells me his kidney function is worsening. Based on the hematuria, we should do a kidney ultrasound to pinpoint the source of the bleeding."

His small smile indicated approval as he spoke. "Good."

"I've got a good mentor." I tilted my head slightly and smiled back.

Our eyes remained trained on each other for a moment before he got up.

"*cough* that you have. I'll call Mr Bloom and tell him we need him to come in." He stood by his desk and picked up the phone before dialing the number.

"Do you think Mass Kenmore will come up with the same idea?" I said as I crossed my legs.

"Despite his appearance, Tobias isn't a complete imbecile... so yes, eventually I suspect they would."

I laughed gently as he finished dialing.

I wouldn't say Tobias Carrick looks like and imbecile. Not at all actually.

"Yes, hello. Mrs Bloom? This is Doctor Ethan Ramsey from Edenbrook Hospital, We need Leland to come in for...."

There was along pause before he said " I see...yes...Well, please let him know when he returns.

He hangs up and sighs before turning to face me.

"We'll have to wait. They're heading to the Harbor Marina to go yachting with some business partners."

"Yachting?" I raised a brow.

"Yachting." He said.

I lolled my head back and stretched my legs out on to the opposite chair.

I heard him walk over and I lifted my head up. "Apparently Leland refuses to miss a meeting, even if his life is at stake." He said, lifting my legs up from my ankles, sitting down and placing them back on his lap.
