A few weeks later, Virtue was back in her classroom teaching her students a new unit while Tarryn was suffering from the side effects of the birth control. It made her nauseous, it made her dizzy and it was making her gain weight and she didn't like that at all. Ephraim noticed slight differences and offered to take her to the doctor and she didn't fight him on it.

Once they got there and once they were seen, her OB/GYN suggested that the hormone level in the birth control pill is probably too high and the weight gain and nausea is a side effect of that. They understood but Ephraim was unsure about whether he wanted her to stay on birth control but its her body and its also her choice.

Wrapping it up, her doctor, Dr. Patricia Glory asked if they have any questions and Ephraim raised his hand. "Is her being on birth control is helping her PCOS in anyway?" He spoke and she nodded her head in approval because that was a good question.

"There are two types of oral contraception that we normally give to PCOS patients and that's the regular oral contraception at normal dosage in which in this case is too high for her. And then there's the other oral contraception is progestin-only pill. Both can treat the symptoms of PCOS. If Tarryn wants to try that then we can." Dr. Glory explained.

He was satisfied but he still had more questions. "Is her hair supposed to shed?" He spoke in reference to when Tarryn ran her hands through her hair and a significant amount came out which was concerning to him.

"PCOS can make your hair shed because of the hormone that their bodies produce. Their hair can shed lightly or heavily or it can just come out gradually." She explained and they both nodded their heads in understanding.

She peered over at Ephraim because she knew that he had yet another question and all she could think about was why didn't he ask her himself. "Can she still get pregnant even with the birth control?" Tarryn knew that question was coming.

Dr. Glory looked at them both but held a lingering stare at Tarryn and then back to Ephraim. "Are you guys planning on having a baby?"

"We are but not right now. Just want to know what our options are." Ephraim voiced and Tarryn smacked her lips.

"I'm not dying Ephraim." She said with a hint of attitude. She was glad that he was concerned but the questions he was asking was kind of making her upset. He could have just asked her and not her doctor. She's the one who has it.

Ephraim peeped her attitude and decided not to say anything further. He raised his hands in surrender but Dr. Glory decided to answer her concerned fiance's question. "Most women who develop PCOS does have a hard time becoming pregnant but its also not impossible. There is a low percentage of women who become pregnant and have the baby successfully." Dr. Glory paused and seen the expression on his face.

"What's the percent?"

"20-40%, Mr. Lockett." She said and then she peeped the look she was giving Ephraim. She can tell by the look on her face that she was upset by what she heard or by the questions that he was asking. She decided that she was going to switch gears for a second. "Do you still want to be on birth control, Tarryn?"

She cut her eyes at Ephraim who's eyes were now trained on the floor. He already knew that Tarryn was looking at him but he just didn't know the reason why she was upset. "I'll try the Progestin oral contraception." She settled on that.
