"Good morning, Mitchy, how are you?" Scott said as he accepted the call.
"More like good night" Mitch returned.
He sounded tired, Scott noticed immediately. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing" Mitch replied. "It's just that we had to work long today to get everything ready to be shipped over to Paris. I wanted to ask you if we're still meeting there?"
"Of course, we're meeting, Mitchy. I'm looking forward to seeing you. It's been a while" Scott pointed out. "And we'll have a break in Paris. Unfortunately, we won't see your show, but we'll at least see one another."
"Yes it's been a while, especially because someone decided to spend his vacation hiking through all the forests around Los Angeles" Mitch joked.
Scott chuckled. "True," he said. "But it was so much fun."
"And I was working like a madman anyway" Mitch replied. "Tell me, how's the tour, how is Europe?"
"It is a lot of fun. Different than touring America. In America, we had a huge tour bus, but here we just have a van. That means that driving is not as comfortable, but then again we have a hotel room every night and I'm glad because that means spending more time with Avi. And even though the nights are mostly short, I sleep better in a real bed than in the bunk of the tour bus."
"I get that. So you and Avi are really enjoying your new-found togetherness?"
Scott could literally hear the smirk in Mitch's voice. "We are" he confirmed. "Of course we are tired after a show day, but it is a different feeling to be in a bed next to one another and to have this precious half an hour to an hour in the morning to be together. And we're finally going out together. We arrived in Amsterdam earlier and we'll do something fun there just the two of us."
"A real date?" Mitch wanted to know. "Or just having a fun time outside?"
Scott smiled. "No, it's a real date. Avi invited me yesterday. He said he had something planned in stressed that it would be a date night. I'm looking forward to whatever it is."
"You sound happy, Scott" Mitch remarked.
"I am happy, Mitch. This all shows me that it was worth it. I'm glad that we made it" Scott said.
"Good. Anyway, I don't want to keep you from getting ready and I'm definitely ready for bed. I started drinking your evening tea a few days ago and it really works wonders when you're feeling restless" Mitch explained.
"Told you so," Scott said with a smirk on his face. "Tea is really nice."
"Yes, you were right and I was wrong," Mitch said. "Anyway, I'm getting incoherent. Good night Scott. enjoy your date and tell Avi I said hi."
"I will. and you go to bed okay? Sleep tight, we'll stay in touch. Bye, Mitchy."
Scott ended the call and went back into the hotel room. Avi seemed to be still in the bathroom, So Scott opened his suitcase and searched for something to wear. He decided on black jeans and a dark red button-up.
"Bathroom is free" Avi announced as he stepped into the main room. He smiled when he saw the clothes on the bed. "I love this colour on you."
Scott smiled. "I know," he said and pressed a kiss onto Avi's temple. "I'll get ready now. when do we need to leave?"
"40 minutes," Avi said. "Hope that's okay?"
Scott nodded. "I'll be ready."
~
"I love this green shirt on you, Avi," Scott said.
They were sitting in a small café, which, as Avi claimed, had the best apple pie in the city.
"You do?" Avi asked.
Scott nodded. "Of course I do. The colour really compliments your beautiful eyes." Scott grinned lopsidedly. "That was so cheesy."
"I still love it," Avi said.
"Mmhm" Scott hummed. He didn't reply, because, at this moment, the waiter came with two plates of apple pie with whipped cream.
"This looks really good" Scott pointed out.
Avi chuckled. "Well some people say it's the best apple pie in the world, but my Mama makes a bomb apple pie herself, so of course I'm biased."
Scott tried the warm cake and hummed. "So good," he said.
Avi smiled. "Told you so" he returned and tried the pie himself. "Really good."
"Mmhm," Scott said. "Anyway, what did you plan for the rest of the day? Anything fixed?"
"Of course I have something planned. It's our first real date, and we are in a beautiful city so there's a lot we can do and some things I have planned. But we'll have some time to stroll through the city. I booked a table in a nice restaurant for the evening and then another surprise after dinner."
Scott smiled fondly at his boyfriend. "I'm looking forward."
After they had finished their cake and tea, Avi paid for them and they exited the café.
"This was a nice start for our date" Scott commented. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." Avi grabbed his hand immediately and together they walked along the canals of Amsterdam. "If you want to stop somewhere you'll let me know, hmm?"
Scott nodded. "I will. I'm just taken aback by the sheer beauty of this city. All these little canals, the boats, the flowers, narrow houses. I've never seen a place like this" he explained. "We're seeing so many different cultures here in Europe, but I never thought that the Netherlands would be so beautiful."
"When I came here for the first time, I was surprised as well," Avi said. "There are many cities I look forward to visiting, but Amsterdam is up there."
They walked through the streets together for a while, stopping to look into little shops every now and then. When they needed a break, they got something to drink and sat down on a bench at a canal. Avi immediately put his arm around his boyfriend and pulled him in.
Scott was a little surprised by this gesture. He was, by now, used to holding hands in public and hugs before and after a show, but this was new. Still, he didn't mind and leaned in.
"I wonder what it's like to see the city from these beautiful canals" the blonde spoke up after a while. It must be such a different perspective."
Avi smiled and nodded. "I think so, too. And it is probably even more beautiful when the sun is setting and everything is illuminated."
Scott looked at his boyfriend and gasped when he saw the bright grin on his face. "Avi, you didn't."
"Of course I did," Avi said. "And I am glad that you like the idea."
Scott shook his head. "Of course I do," he said. "Thank you." He looked into Avi's eyes and then down onto his lips, desperately wanting to kiss him, but he didn't dare to, because they hadn't kissed openly in public before.
So he wanted to go for a quick peck onto his cheek, their usual gesture in public, but then Avi leaned in and kissed his lips.
They kissed slowly on a bench in a busy street in Amsterdam and Scott's heart skipped a beat.
