Scott woke up again and didn't know why. He was confused for a moment because he found himself still lying in the hammock with Avi laying almost on top of him. It was comfortable, even though it was a tight fit and Avi's hair was tickling his neck.
The blonde took a moment to fully wake up and when he opened his eyes, he saw that the sun was already rising again. Of course, that meant that it was still early, but even though he hadn't slept too long, Scott felt almost ready to start the day.
Usually, he would have gotten up and get started on breakfast, but with Avi still being fast asleep, he decided to just stay there and enjoy him being so close. The musician was sleeping calmly and, what Scott just noticed after a while, snoring softly. It wasn't something that would bother him when he was trying to sleep, to Scott it was just adorable.
After a while, Scott felt Avi shifting a little which resulted in the blanket slipping down.
Scott feared that Avi would get cold and carefully moved to pull up the blanket again, stopping when he felt Avi stir beside him. He felt him a little closer and then the musician balled one of his hands into a fist and held onto his shirt.
The blonde smiled fondly, he had experienced Avi's grabby hands before. He wasn't really sure why avi did this, but he assumed that it was his subconscious which made him do this, maybe out of fear of being left alone again. Even though Scott found this gesture adorable, he knew that it came from a place of deep hurt and uncertainty.
In the end, Scott managed to pull the blanket back up without waking the musician and decided to close his eyes for another while.

"Scott? Scotty?"
The blonde opened his eyes and smiled when he saw Avi looking at him. "Hmm?"
"I'm so sorry for waking you up, dear, but I need to go to the bathroom and you're holding me very tight right now," the musician said. "Not that I mind, but..."
Scott smiled. "It's fine." He let go of Avi and waited for him to get up. The hammock shook and wobbled when the bearded man got up, but Scott held on to it. "Will you come back or shall we head inside?"
"Hmm, I could go for a cup of tea..." Avi replied.
Scott smiled. "I'll meet you in the kitchen then..." He got up as well. It didn't look as elegant as Avi, but he managed to do it without falling down. "I'll start on the tea if I may?"
Avi smiled at him. "Sure, you know where everything is, right?"
Scott nodded. "I do."
The two men ended up back on the patio with two huge mugs of tea and a breakfast that consisted of some cut-up fruits and some granola bars which Avi had prepared a few days ago.
"Did you sleep well?" Avi asked once they had settled down. "I hadn't planned for us to stay in the hammock all night, but I just fell asleep, sorry."
Scott smiled. "I slept so well, Avi. I woke up once in the morning but that was it. And my back isn't even hurting..."
Avi furrowed his brows. "Why would your back hurt?"
Scott shrugged his shoulders. "Scoliosis" he just said. "Have been dealing with it since I was a teenager. Usually, when I sleep on a mattress that isn't firm enough, I wake up with bad backaches, but there's nothing."
Avi smiled back at him. "I'm glad. I didn't know about your scoliosis..."
Scott shrugged his shoulders. "There's not much to know. It's just that my spine is, as Mitch would put it, a squiggly line."
Avi chuckled. "Oh wow..." he said and then remembered that there was something he still wanted to tell Scott. "Errm, Scott?"
Scott, who was nibbling on a granola bar, looked up at him. "Yeah?"
"When we stopped at your place a while ago after you had stayed the night... remember? I waited for you in the car. Mitch came and joined me in the car. He... somehow knew that am struggling because of my anxiety and... he was the one who encouraged me to ask you out. I just trusted him immediately, Scott. He just knew how I am feeling. I just hope that it is... okay for you that we talked? I mean he is your best friend and I don't know..."
"Hey, Avi? You're rambling again" Scott said softly and took one of the musician's hands. "It's okay."
Avi looked up and took a deep breath. "Yeah?"
"Of course" Scott replied. "He might be my best friend but I always felt like you might connect with him, that he might be able to help you, but I just didn't want to throw it at you. I am glad that he talked to you that day. And if you want to talk to him, I can give you his number, I am sure he wouldn't mind."
Avi smiled. "He gave me his card before he left. I... haven't contacted him, yet, but I trusted him immediately, maybe because he's your best friend or because he's dealing with social anxiety as well."
Scott nodded. "Good. Please, feel free to contact him whenever you need to talk to someone who has a better idea of what you feel... I am doing my very best to understand you, but I am not perfect."
Avi put his hand onto Scott's hand and held it in between both of his hands. "Scott, you are wonderful, you are doing so much for me, whenever I am doubting myself you are there and eager to help, you give me time if I need it and... you just seem to know what I need."
Scott shook his head. "No, I don't. I am just winging it, as they say. Last night for example when you weren't sure if you wanted to be in the hammock with me. I had the option to make a decision for you or to give you space so you could make up your mind and well... all you needed was a moment to think." He smiled. "Just know that whatever happens, we're in this together. I always try to do what's best for you, but as I already said, I am just not perfect."
"Neither am I, Scotty. We'll just have to be patient with one another" Avi replied.
"We will" Scott confirmed. With his free hand, he shoved a few loose strands of hair behind Avi's ear. He leaned closer and, when Avi didn't pull back, kissed his lips.
After Avi had initiated the kiss the night before, Scott took control and kissed Avi passionately.
"Hmm..." Avi hummed once they had let go of one another. "You're such a good kisser..."
Scott giggled softly. "So are you..." He took a sip of tea and leaned back. "So... what are you up to today?"
"I'm meeting with Kaleb and Noah later today, we lost a few days of practice and need to make up for it" Avi explained. "You?"
"Need to finish a presentation about my internship. I have all the exciting details regarding my work with you ready, but I need to add boring information about the company and everything. But I don't think I will need much time for that, so maybe I'll do something with Mitchy. When are you meeting Kaleb and Noah?"
"They're coming over at 3, so we still have some time left..." Avi explained and put his arm around the blonde. "Unless you need to hurry?"
Scott leaned against Avi's chest for a change and he loved that even though the musician was smaller than he was, it still felt good to be held by him. "No need to hurry, I'll stay here until you need to get ready..."
"Good good." Avi took the bowl with fresh raspberries and put it into his lap so he was able to eat them and feed Scott every now and then while they talked about this and that in a comfortable atmosphere. They stayed this way until Scott had to leave and they parted with kisses and promises to stay in contact and to meet up as soon as possible.
