I looked at who I presumed to be Alpha Braxton, "Yes, sir."
He gave a brief nod and stood up, "I am so sorry for what happened to your pack. Is there any information you can give me on what occurred?"
I sniffled slightly, images of my mother and father flashing before me eyes. I took a deep breath and looked down.
"I know this must be hard for you dear, but the sooner I can figure out what happened, the better I can try to help any survivors and determine if we should be preparing for an attack as well."
I looked up at Alpha Braxton and took another deep breath, "It was me, sir. They were after me. I'm sure you can assume why. Dinner had ended and most of the patrol members were all out working with the new shifters of the pack. We had no warning, sir. They just attacked. The head patrol, Axel Williams, took me and hid me in my father's study...in some hidden corridor. I waited there for either him or my parents. *I sniffled* My parents came rushing into the room, with the Alpha of the Blood Rogues and Da-uh another Blood Rogue member. The Alpha demanded my father to give me up, but when he refused the other rogue killed him. The Alpha forced my mother up and demanded to know where I was. She just spat at him and said I was gone and that he would never find me. The Alpha growled and slit her throat. She mind-linked me to run and come here, so I took off down the corridor. I don't know what happened to the others. I-I shouldn't have run away. I should've stayed and fought."
I just looked down as tears fell down my cheeks. I was a coward. Why did I run? I should've stayed. I just abandoned my pack. I-I don't deserve to be here.
The Alpha walked over and just embraced me, letting me cry into him, "You were right to come here. Your pack members would gladly give up their lives to protect you. You are their future and past. You are special and sacred. Giving yourself to the Blood Rogues wouldn't have stopped them from killing. They would've finished off your pack and then you would've been left enslaved to them. They cannot control the White Crest line, Kaileigh."
He then turned his attention to Ben, "Ben, take some of the warriors and go to where you found Kaileigh. Watch to see if any Blood Rogues come from the corridor, so we can know if they figure out where she is. Have our borders patrolled more. I doubt that they found it, but we need to make sure."
"Yes, Alpha," Ben stated as he left the room.
Alpha Braxton's eyes then glazed over for a few minutes, leaving me there awkwardly. Moments later, an older man and a girl around my age walk in.
"Kaileigh, this is my Beta, Max, and his daughter, Sam. She is your age. I've talked with them and Max's mate and they have agreed to bring you into their family during your stay here, however long that may be."
Beta Max just smiled at me, "Hi, Kaileigh! I'm sorry for what you have had to go through, but just know that if you need anyone to talk to, my mate and I are here for you."
"Thank you, sir," was all I managed to say.
Max just chuckled, "Just call me, Max! After all, you are a part of the family now."
He looked towards his daughter, "This is my daughter Sam."
Sam was slightly taller than me, with gorgeous light brown soft curls, and amber eyes.
Sam just smiled shyly. Her father looked at me, "Sam, take Kaileigh upstairs to get cleaned up. I'm sure she's had a long night."
Sam turned to me and grabbed my hand, as she led me up to the second floor, "This is our floor, well the Beta's floor technically. Here-," she pointed towards a door at the end of the hall on the right, "...this will be your room. Mine is just across the hall."
Sam opened up the door and led me in. She gave me a weird look for a moment, "I think you're about my size, sorry ha, I was just thinking about clean clothes for you! I'll go get some from my room while you wash up. The door to your right is your bathroom and the closet is connected to that...for when you have clothes."
Sam smiled and then left the room. I walked over to the door and entered the bathroom. It was pretty big and really clean. I went over and turned on a hot shower. Moon goddess knows that I could use a hot shower after all of this.
I know it seems like I am taking this weirdly well, but I'm not. Being a werewolf, you learn how to move past things externally pretty quickly. You have to. You can't focus on death in the middle of an attack. You have to move on to survive. Being the white wolf, I had to now focus on protecting the future- not just for myself, but the whole White Crest line. It rested on my survival and my actions.
I stepped out of the shower with a fluffy towel wrapped around me. A knock sounded on the bathroom door, "Kaileigh, it's me! I have some clothes for you to wear," Sam spoke kindly.
I opened the door and took the clothes from her. I quickly changed and walked into what was now my room. Sam was sitting on the bed, playing on her phone. She looked up at me and smiled, "See! I knew you were my size!"
I laughed slightly. "Hey! Come on, why don't we go watch a movie or something in my room? Get your mind off of everything," Sam suggested.
I smiled weakly and nodded, following Sam across the hall to her room. We ended up putting on Jurassic Park, one of my favorites growing up! But I mean, come on, like dinosaurs would ever exist currently. That's just ridiculous!
Sam was awesome. I got along with her really well. I hoped that we would be friends. I haven't ever had a close girl friend who I could actually keep in contact with. We laughed all night, until we both passed out on her bed.
Hopefully my sleep won't be plagued by nightmares.
