Sonic X: Penny's Tale: Book One

The Last Resort

"The New Emerald Coast seems like the perfect place to get away from it all." Amy smiled. "You can hang out at the beach, or float in the clear crystal blue ocean all along. Then dine as you watch a spectacular sunset." She smiled as she imagined it all. "It sounds so romantic." She said dreamily.

"Okay..." Penny said.

"I wish we could go to the party," Amy sighed.

"We'll have fun at the Thorndyke's villa." Cream smiled. "Are you ready to go, Cheese?"

Cheese smiled and chaoed in response.

"I'm ready too, Guys!" Tails smiled. "My flight plane will take us right to the Emerald Coast."

Penny smiled at the fox. "Tails, be sure to drive safely, please, and fly in a spot where you think no one will see you!"

"They won't have a problem as long as they stay on the grounds of the villa." Chuck said.

"I wish we can hang out with them instead of going to the resort opening," Penny said sadly.

"I know, but your mother can't make it, so she needs you to go in her place," Chuck told Penny.

Penny looked sternly at Chris. And you and Sonic and the others get all the fun!"

"Don't worry, Penny." Chris smiled. "You'll be able to join us once this all ends."

"Chris is right." Silver said, walking up.

"You won't have to stay long, and after, you can join the others at the villa." Grandpa smiled, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"That's great!"

Chris looked over at Sonic. "And I can give you a swimming lesson, Sonic!"

"You guys go on without me," Sonic said.

Silver frowned.

"But, Sonic, I can't do this without knowing you will be there to hang out with me once this is all over!" Penny tried to reason with him.

"Sorry, Penny, but I made my choice...I'm staying right here."

Penny stared at Sonic, shocked at what he was saying.

"Sonic, what do you mean you're not coming with us?" Amy snarled.

"That's right." Sonic hopped down in front of Penny and Amy. "Have fun, I gotta run." He dashed out.

Penny looked down, feeling disappointed. Chris put a hand on his older sister's shoulder. "That's weird. I wonder why Sonic doesn't want to go to Emerald Coast with us!" 

"It must be because Sonic hates water." Cloud said.

Blaze nodded. "He won't come near the ocean because he can't swim."

A memory of Sonic's reaction of after Penny pulled him out of the water appeared in the girl's head. He was coughing hard, if she remembered correctly.

"I forgot about that." Chris said.

"Me too..." Penny sighed. 

"But Sonic doesn't have to swim." Tails said from his plane. "He could go running on the beach!"

"It's not gonna be much fun without Sonic." Amy said sadly.

"For once, I agree with you," Penny told Amy.

"What do you mean, for once?" Amy asked angrily.

"Hey, hey, hey, no need to fight right now." Cloud said, stepping in between them.
