A Robot Rebels

On the Mystic Ruins...

Knuckles was feeling like he wasn't doing a perfect job of guarding the Chaos Emerald. He clutched the piece of it he found in his fist tightly. "I was supposed to guard the Master Emerald. But now I only have one piece of it," He sighed in frustration and closed his eyes. "What's the use of going on. It's over. I failed."

When he opened his eyes, he saw he was in the same historical place he saw before, this time the whole place where the Master Emerald rested was in flames.

And the Echidna girl, Tikal, watched the whole thing with wide, frightened eyes.

Knuckles opened his eyes again and looked at the piece of the Master Emerald in confusion.

It glinted in his hands.

"Standing around feeling sorry for myself won't make things right. I couldn't stop the Master Emerald from being destroyed, but I can gather what's left. I wasted enough time moping, I better get on with the search!"

Using his strong knuckles, Knuckles managed to climb the high rocks at a speed that nearly-maybe not quite-matched Sonic's.

Soon, Tails and Sonic were ready to rescue Penny from Eggman once again.

"Ready for take-off, Sonic?" Tails asked.

Sonic nodded. "Ready!"

The X Tornado, now fixed, flew high into the air.

"I only hope they'll be able to find Penny. With Eggman and those crazy robots of his, who knows what could happen to her!" Chuck said, greatly worried about his granddaughter.

"I'm sure that Sonic won't give up until he brings her back here safe and sound." Mr. Tanaka said, reassuring Chuck.

"He'd better," Chuck said, frowning.

"Do you think Penny's okay?" Cream whimpered.

"Don't you worry, Creamy." Ella smiled lovingly at the young girl. "I'm sure she's just fine."

Sonic was watching Tails fly the X Tornado with worry in his eyes. "You shouldn't try to take out on Eggman so soon," he said, looking at Tails' injuries.

"I feel fine!" Tails protested. "I can handle him, Sonic!"

Sonic frowned. "You're a great pilot, Tails, but I better do this on my own,"

"Wait, Sonic!" Tails cried. Sonic turned to him. "We're a team! We have to figure out where Eggman took Penny. It'll be easier with two of us looking! Penny's probably in danger and there's no time to lose! So let's all look!" Tails said. "I know we can find her!"

Sonic sighed. "Well, I guess we do have a better chance of working together!"

"Right!" Tails smiled. "We're a team!"

"But if you're staying on the plane, how come you're outside?" Tails asked.

"It's more fun to ride the X Tornado out here in the open air!"

"Okay!" Tails smiled. "You better hold on!"

Sonic gave Tails a thumbs up. "Yeah!"

As they flew, Sonic looked ahead. "Hold on, Penny." He muttered, a look of determination coming over his face. "We'll find you."

While Sonic and Tails went off to rescue Penny, Chris and Silver were dealing with their own problems. Big had decided to take a break and fish.
