Ch.47

"Be careful guys!" I yell to the twins that are currently in the bouncy house.

I was having fun.

After I told Alec I loved him, we kissed and bought our tickets and as if smelling the cotton candy the kids shortly woke up after that.

We had been to a few booths and even rode the ferris wheel but the bouncy house was for sure the kids favorite place. Hence, why we had been here for the last 15 minutes.

And by we, I meant Alec and I because my lovely best friend had ditched us for the torture twister.

Which I wasn't complaining about because I hated that ride more than life itself. I mean who's idea was it to create a ride that just took you in a circle for 3 minutes straight? A lunatic, that's who.

I leaned my head on Alec's arm as I watched the kids jump. I smiled to myself but it was quickly wiped off my face when I heard what the ladies next to me were saying.

"Yeah that's the Carlson boy, how sad." The redhead also known as Chatty Kathy whispered.

Ignore it, Skyler.

I didn't even understand why they were here. I mean I knew they helped out with the carnival every year but everyone knew they just helped out so they could gossip and throw shade to everyone they saw here.

"Do you know her father has been at the house? I've been seeing him a lot more lately." My neighbor also know as Loud Lucy tried to whisper.

I close my eyes for a second as a way of blocking them out and in that moment the kids exited the bouncy house.

"Did you see that?" Simon says running towards me. "I jumped really high!" I give him a smile a high five.

"Yeah buddy. How about we go on a different ride now? Or we can go get something to eat?" I say asking them.

"Food." They both days at the same time. I nod and grab both their hands before walking past the two ladies.

I was almost past them before I heard Kathy say, "And that's his children with the mistress, how despicable."

I didn't care what any one in this shitty town had to say about me but you leave my babies alone.

"Screw being the bigger person. Hold their hands." I say before shoving the twins hands in Alec's big ones.

"Sugar-" He says but I had already walked towards the two lady's who straightened up once they saw me.

"Oh Skyler, how are you dear?" Chatty says with a fake smile.

I give her a fake smile in return, "All good. Just coming over here to say Hi and ask how Lucy's husband is? We all heard about the lawsuit." I say turning towards Lucy who was caught off guard but hid it quickly.

"Oh he's good. He's on vacation right now." She says waving it off.

"Oh I know that. As you know my father is his lawyer, so I've seen pictures of the baby who is adorable by the way but it must be so hard on you knowing he took half your money and now is using it to raise a family with a 20 year old even though he never gave you any kids." I say and smile at her she gasp.

"Now Skyler I don't think-" She says but I turn my head towards Chatty.

"And you, hows your daughter?"
