Beautiful Disaster

Ch.40

By the time I woke up it was dark outside. The left side of my bed was cold and I figured I really did dream of Alec.

I got up and walked towards the living room where the faint sound of the tv was playing. Looking at the couch I saw my Mom, Dina, Luke, and Marco all talking amongst themselves.

Luke was the first person to see me and gave me a smile. "Well hello sleepyhead." He says and everybody else looks my way. I gave everyone a wave and a smile.

"Hi Honey. Dinners in the kitchen if you want to eat." My mom says in a soft tone.

"Thank you. I was wondering if Marco could stay for a little while if that's okay with you." I say while walking towards the couch.

"Yeah we spoke. I told him he could stay as long as he wants." She says and I was scared to know what reason they gave her for him staying here. I didn't want to ruin her friendship with Mrs.Carlson.

I gave her a mumbled alright before making my way to the kitchen.

I glanced at the clock as I was heating up the food and grimaced. It was 6 o'clock, which meant I basically slept the whole day and left them down here until my mom got home.

"Hey, how are you feeling?" I hear Luke asks as he walks into the kitchen.

"I'm alright thank you." I say pulling on the sleeves of the sweater.

"You know you don't always have to be okay, Kiddo."

"I know but I always end up being okay."

"Sometimes I wish you weren't okay at all. Sometimes I want to be able to ask if you're alright and you tell me you're amazing." He says leaning on the counter across from me.

"Well I guess that's not how life works." I shrug and we both fall in silence.

"Did you know I'm dating Cherish again?" He asks.

"Actually I didn't. You guys are doing long distance?" I ask once the microwave goes off.

He shakes his head. "No. She's actually moving back down here. I can tell she's different now but it's a good different. I'm hoping we'll work out this time."

"Well I'm happy for the two of you."

"Thanks little one. Dina didn't have the best reaction when I told her but she'll get over it after Cherish comes over for dinner this week." He says.

"Well let's just hope Dina doesn't threaten her. You know how she gets." I say laughing and he joins in.

"Yeah I know. Maybe you should to dinner too. That way you can keep her in check while also seeing Cherish. It'll be nice if you're there." He says and I agree.

"Okay just text me and let me know." I say.

"Alright I will. I'm going to head out now though because I have an 8 am class. I'm pretty sure D's staying here with you tonight." He says then gives me a hug and a kiss on the cheek before leaving. "See you later. Feel better." Then he was gone.

"Well bye to you too." I mutter while grabbing a bottle of water and my plate before heading to the dining table.

I took a seat and picked at the mash potatoes on my plate when Marco came and sat in the chair next to me.

He was in pajamas. "Hey." He says softly. "So the band has a show Friday night and I was wondering if you wanted to sing lead again? The band really liked you and so did the crowd." I gave him a small smile and put a fork full of potatoes in my mouth.

I nodded and swallowed. "I would love to. What song are you guys singing?"

"We actually decided to let you choose the set we would do."
