Today was Christmas day and I was currently waiting for everyone to come.
Mom had decided that since we had new faces joining us aka The Carlson's we would actually have to wait until everyone got here for us to open gifts.
The plan for today was to open the gifts our parents got us, then to open the gifts we got them, have dinner together then Dina,Alec, and I were going to drive to the cabin and spend a few days there. Marco said he was going to meet up with us tomorrow morning since he was visiting his mother who lived 2 hours away.
When Alec proposed the idea of us getting away to have our own little Christmas exchange party I thought my mom was going to say no. I mean it's Christmas but then she when basically told me to get out because her and the two other mothers joining us were having a girls night in and no kids were allowed I had no other choice but to agree to his idea.
Hearing the doorbell ring, I jump off the sofa and run towards the door. Opening the door, I am greeted with the smell of gingerbread cookies. Looking at the two pans being held in Carson's hand I calmly grabbed them and fast walked to the kitchen.
Rule #1 Of Skylers Christmas Handbook: Gingerbread Cookies were always welcomed.
"Well hello to you too." He said while walking into the kitchen laughing.
Stuffing my face with the cookie I wave. Moaning at the taste, I lean against the counter and close my eyes.
"If you moan like that while you're with my brother then I understand why he's in love with you." I hear him say from infront of me.
Carson was barely around because he still lived in the city and didn't have time to travel back and forth all the time but whenever him and Alec spoke on the phone he would always talk to me. So we had became oddly close for two people who only met in person a few times.
Opening my eyes, I swallow the last bit of the cookie. "First of all, go to hell. Second of all, where is your brother?" I say picking up another cookie.
"He should be here soon. He's helping our mother with the pan of brownies." Hearing the word brownies just made my love for Lydia shoot up to the roof. Not even a few minutes later the bell rings again and I ask Carson to go get it knowing it's his mother and brother.
After stealing one more cookie I make my way to the living room where Dina is laid out in her Christmas pjs. I crouch down and whisper, "Everyone's here now." in her ear and she immediately bolts up.
"Okay, let's get this show on the road people. I'm dying to open my gifts." She yells.
Laughing, I hear both our mothers yell "Stop yelling in the house Dina." before making their way downstairs. I also see all three of the Carlson's come and sit on the sofa.
I greet Lydia before I head over to Alec who grabs me into the spot next to him. He whispers a "Merry Christmas" in my ear and kisses my head. Saying it back I notice Luke coming from upstairs. He calmly greets the Carlson's and sits on the floor near my leg.
"Okay, let's do this. Who's going first?" He says tiredly.
Rolling my eyes I pluck his ear. "Have some Christmas spirit." He answers my pinching my leg.
Dina then pinches his arm. "Don't touch her." Opening his mouth in shock he plucks her arm. "She started it." Pinching him I say, "Well I'm finishing it." And for a few minutes us three went around plucking, pinching, and slapping the other until our mothers both yelled out "That's enough." Huffing, we all cross our arms and go back into our spots."Sorry they've been doing this every year. It's almost like a ritual now. Every year 5 minutes before we open presents they have this exact fight." My mom says to Lydia. "Dina either hits Luke and Skyler joins in protecting her bestfriend or Skyler hits Luke and Dina joins in protecting her bestfriend. A very long cycle of nonsense." Carla says.
