The next morning Alec wasn't next to me anymore.
I stayed in bed a little while longer before deciding to get up and look for him. I slip my bunny slippers on and make my way downstairs.
As I approach the living room I hear voices talking. "I'm glad to see you two made up." I hear my mothers voice say.
"Me too. I really did mean what I said the other day." I make a face of confusion.
The other day? Had my mom spoken to Alec without telling me?
"I know you did. I like seeing you two together. You make her happy." She says.
"I hope I continue to make her happy for the rest of our lives." He says and that's when I decide to make my presence known.
I climb down the last few steps and both of their eyes turn to mine. "Morning Mom." I say and she gives me a smile before standing up. I notice she's still in her scrubs.
"Morning honey. How'd you sleep? How was the show?"
"Good. How was work?" I say looking at her tired eyes.
"Long." She say sighing tiredly. "I'm exhausted so I'm going to head up and take a nap. Do you have guys any plans today?"
"No but I'll let you know if I do head out." I say and she nods before making her way up to her room. I watched her leave with a frown on my face.
I knew I wouldn't see her until dinner time due to how tired she looked and that was okay because I know she needed the rest but sometimes I wished she was around more often. Of course, she was an amazing mother but the last few weeks reminded me how much she worked and how lonely this house truly was without the presence of her, Alec, or Dina.
I didn't want to sound ungrateful so I never tell her how I feel. I knew she was working so hard to make more money for us but sometimes I just wanted to ask if she could take a night off so we could spend some time together.
Before I have more time to dwell on my thoughts I feel Alec's arms around me. "Morning Sugar." He says before kissing my head.
"Morning." I say turning around to face him. "You're up early for once." He chuckles.
"I was making breakfast for you and then your mom walked in. Has she been working long nights again?" He asks and I nod.
"Yeah."
"So you've just been all alone?"
"Marco's been staying here but yeah pretty much." I say shrugging and I see his face start to frown.
"I'm sorry." He says
"I know." He looked like he was about to say something but I spoke before him. "Now I heard something about breakfast." I say and his frown slowly forms into a smile.
He chuckles and leads me to the kitchen where my eyes fall on two plates that are placed on the counter. Both plates had sausages, pancakes and home fries but only one of them had eggs.
He grabs both plates and hands them to me. "Go sit and pick something to watch. I'll bring you something to drink Sugarplum." I nod and head to the living room. Placing the plates on the coffee table before scrolling through Netflix.
As I'm scrolling I pass Gossip Girl and my mind wanders back to the first time Alec and I attempted to watch it. He had told me about how a girl, who I've now come to realize was probably, Serena had made him watch it and something about that newfound fact made me never want to watch the show again.
"Are we watching gossip girl?" He asks sneaking up behind me. I jump a little due to me spacing out.
"No, no we are not." I scroll past it quickly and click on a random episode of The Office as he takes a seat down next to me on the couch.
