Beautiful Disaster

Ch.35

"Marco asked me to ask you if you could fill in for the lead singer tonight." Is the first thing I heard from my beautiful best friend on a Friday morning.

I grab my books for first period class before answering her. "No." I say calmly then close my locker. I would've helped Marco if I didn't have plans tonight but I did.

Today was valentine's day and Alec had planned a date for us tonight. I truly wasn't expecting him to ask me but the other night when he came to sleep he had a few white roses in one hand and chicken nuggets in the other then asked if I would be his valentine. I, of course, said yes.

I won't say that I wasn't happy he asked me because I was. It was honestly the best Valentine's day proposal I've ever had even if it wasn't much.

"Come on why not? They literally have no one else and this gig really means a lot to him. Please?" She says giving me the puppy dog eyes.

"I have a date with Alec tonight." I remind her. "What happened to Trevor?" I ask about the bands original lead singer.

"He had to go see his mom in the hospital. She has cancer and it's getting bad so he couldn't come out tonight." She informs and I soften up a little and groan.

She knew I couldn't say no.

"What am I supposed to tell Alec? Come on this isn't fair. I don't even sing anymore."

"It's at the boardwalk in the city. You guys can go on your date after just please. You only have to perform one maybe two songs and that's it. You're also getting paid 150 each." I sigh.

"Fine but the max is 3 songs. I need to learn the lyrics and cancel on Alec now." I say sadly and start heading to my first period class with Dina.

"I'm sorry but it's fine because Alec already knows. Marco asked him if he was okay with it first and Alec said yes."

"Well how thoughtful of you all to be okay with this. What songs are we doing anyways?" I say annoyed walking into first period.

"It's Valentine's day themed so mostly love songs. I'll have Marco text you the names. It's mostly covers I believe." She says taking out her phone.

A few seconds later my phone buzzes and I see a message from Marco with the names of 2 songs and telling me thank you. I type back a no problem and that he owes me one before looking at the songs.

I know both of them so that's a plus. As the teacher walks in and starts talking I'm reminded of the school project I have due by the end of this year which would be in 4 months.

I really need to start working on it.

When I get home from school Alec is already waiting
outside my house for me in his truck. When he sees me he starts getting out. "Hi Sugarplum." He smiles.

"I don't like how you just so willingly gave up our Valentines date tonight." I say grumpily.

"I didn't give it up. I just know we can do something after and besides we go on dates all the time. If anything I'll just make it up to you another night."

"Yeah I guess you're right." I say unlocking the door.

"That just might be the first time those words have ever come out your mouth." He said laughing.

"And they will be the last. Why are you here anyways? You didn't have afternoon classes today?" He shook his head.

"Nope but I do tomorrow so I'll be here a little late." I nodded and yawned.

"You tired?" He asked and I nodded. I felt him grab my hand before leading me to the couch. "Take a little nap. I'll wake you up when it's time to get ready." He says before laying me on his chest.
