By the time I was dressed my father's van was pulling up outside with the twins. "Perfect timing." I mutter to myself as I sit in front of my mirror to start doing my hair.

"You better be dressed." My lovely best friend says barging in my room.

"Oh hush the ferris wheel isn't going to run away relax. Besides, the fair is in town for the whole week so we have plenty of time." I say as I part my hair down the middle to french braid it.

"Yeah but you know they only do the raffle on the first day of the fair." She says taking a seat on the bed.

"Not this again." I say rolling my eyes.

Every year when summer approaches our town has a fair that lasts for a week but only on the very first day there's a raffle where you pay 2 dollars for 50 tickets with the same number and around 7:30 they call the number that wins by randomly pulling it out of a hat.

There's a bunch of different prizes but the main one that everyone always aims for is the big bear that's twice your size but I gave up trying to win it years ago when I realized the whole thing was rigged because no one ever wins it.

"Yes, this again. I will not stop until I win that bear."

"Dina, in all the years we've been going to the fair the bear has only been won once. What makes you think this year you're going to win?" I say finishing up my braid.

"Luck." She says giving me a smile.

"You said that last year." I deadpan.

She gasps and throws a pillow at me. "Screw you." I laugh as I grab my jean jacket out of my closet.

"I love you too. Now let's go." I say while opening my door and motioning for her to follow.

Once we made it down to the living room I feel two little arms wrap around my legs almost knocking me down.

"Sky!" The two little voices exclaim and I stumble back before looking down at the beautiful little humans I've grown to love these past few months.

"Hi little ones." I say laughing a little and patting both of their heads. "You guys ready for the carnival?" They both let go of my legs and step back nodding excitedly.

I give them a smile and we start walking towards my father and Alec who were in the middle of a conversation before I came up to them. "Hey honey." My father says before kissing my head and giving me a hug. "I was just catching up with Alec here since it's been a while since I've seen him."

I turn my eyes towards Alec before looking back at my father. "Yeah, he's been busy lately." I say then look at the twins. "You guys remember my friend Alec right?" I ask them and they both nod.

"You never came back to see my legos." Simon says while Sierra adds, "Or my dolls."

I watch Alec bend down to their eye level and say, "I'm sorry. How about, if it's okay with your father, I come and play with both your legos and dolls one of these days?" He says and the twins look at my father.

"Yes of course that's fine with me." My father says and the twins starts jumping up and down happily.

Kids really do get happy over the smallest things.

"I hate to break up this beautiful family moment but we have to get going people." I hear Dina say as she slips on her shoes.

I roll my eyes while grabbing the mini backpack with extra clothes for the twins that my dad packed and give it to Alec to put in his truck.

I had learned that taking the backpack outside every time we went out was necessary after an ice cream incident that we had at the park. Needless to say after that day, I never left home without it whenever I took the kids out.
