Beautiful Disaster

Ch.48

"I still can't believe you actually won that freaking thing." I say to a grinning Alec.

"I told you I was going to win." I shake my head and scoffed in disbelief before turning my head to look out the window.

The challenges were pretty easy. The first one was the ping-pong under the cup and whoever guessed wrong was out, the second challenge was the balloon dart which every guy but Marco & Alec sucked at because they lacked eye-hand coordination-but I had no right to judge- and last but not least, the staring contest.

Since the last round only had Marco and Alec in it they were allowed to pick the last challenge and they ultimately decided on a staring contest that Alec won. Although, I was sure the only reason he won was because Marco had let him win I wouldn't tell him that.

When I asked Dina if she was okay with me wining the bear she'd been so desperately fighting for the last few years she just shrugged and said "there's always next year and besides now we know the universe is on Alec's side." Which leads us to where we are now which is in the car on our way back home while the kids sleep in the back.

The bear was placed in the middle of them and up close it looked bigger than it did sitting on stage. I knew I wasn't going to be able to sleep with it on my bed so I would have to find a space in the corner of my room for it.

I turned my head back to Alec and noticed the smile etched on his face as he drove. The same smile that hasn't left his face since he walked off the stage and handed me the bear.

He was so proud of himself and I loved that.

"You know I can feel you staring at me right." He says in a low voice.

"I don't care." I say as I lean back in my chair. "You have a nice smile."

He gasps, "Is that a compliment that I just received?" He says and I roll my eyes.

"Shut up." I say pinching his leg.

"Hey! I'm driving no touching until we get in the house." He says and my phone vibrates in my lap.

"I'll touch whatever I want." I say checking the message on my phone. "Also D just said they are going back to the dorm so that's why they aren't following us anymore."

"Yeah, I figured because I just saw his car make a right." He says then pauses before saying, "Now you were saying something about touching whatever you want." Which caused a snort to come out of me.

"In your dreams."

"Always sugarplum."

"Keep it PG pervert." I say and he laughs.

Then a calm silence filled the car and the only thing that could be heard was the music playing on the radio. I hummed along lowly as we passed a few headlights until we were home.

I had already texted my dad to tell him we were on our way home so he was waiting by his car for us once we got to the door.

"Hey dad." I whisper as I pass him Sierra.

"Hey honey. Did you guys have fun?" He says strapping her in without waking her up.

They were really heavy sleepers.

"Yes. I even won the bear this year." I say pointing to Alec's truck.

"No way." He says laughing while taking Simon from Alec.
