Beautiful Disaster

CH. 50

"OH! What about this one?" Dina says picking up a red knee length dress with diamond all over it.

"Uh uh. That's too short for you." I say flicking through the dresses on the rack.

She scoffs and puts the dress back on the rack. "Skyler we are not going to get anywhere if you hate every dress in all the stores we've gone too."

"I do not hate every dress. Just the ones we've seen. Besides I can't think when I'm hungry." I say and she rolls her eyes.

"Well you will not eat until we find a dress. Now, I'm going to go over there to look for a dress. Stop being so hard headed and pick one." She says before walking to a aisle on the other side of the store.

I groan as my phone rings. I look at the caller id and pick up. "Hello." I grumble.

"Well hello to you. Not enjoying dress shopping huh?" I hear Alec say while laughing.

"How'd you know I was dress shopping?"

"Marco told me you and Dina were shopping for dresses and by the sound of your voice, Im guessing it's not going so well."

"No it's not." I say as I switch the phone to my other hand. I put the dresses I have in my hand back on the shelf before deciding to walk out the store. "She's starving me. She said I can't eat until I find a dress."

He laughs and says, "Well hurry and find a dress then so you can eat. Oh and I don't appreciate not having a heads up about the day. I know need to go hurry and buy a tux since it seems Marco already bought his."

"You're coming with me? But I didn't even ask you."

"You don't need to ask me Sugar." He then pauses before I hear him teasingly say, "Although, it would've been nice because I've never been asked to prom. I didn't go to mine."

"Why not?" I ask before immediately saying, "Nevermind."

"Yeah."

I sigh. "If I'm being honest, I totally just forgot. Hence why I'm shopping for a dress literally 4 days before. My mind has been on other things."

"You still haven't heard back from Cal State?"

"No but then again I haven't been home yet so the letter might've came today since the deadline is Monday." I aimlessly walk down the mall corridor. "Everything just seems to be moving so fast." I say before stopping in front of a store with a dress that brightly caught my eye. I stare at it as I listen to Alec speak.

"I know but it'll move faster if you keep thinking about how fast it's moving. So just think about right now, okay? We have all the time in the world." He says and I smile.

"Yes we do and I think right now, I'm going to eat." I say walking into the store.

"You found a dress?"

"I might've. I'll call you back okay?"

"Okay, i love you. See you later."

I smile. "I love you too." Then hang up.

I catch the eye of the salesperson and asks for the dress in my size. It was the first dress that I saw all day that I wanted to try on.

I quickly texted Dina the store I was in so she wouldn't be worried and stepped into the dressing room. I slipped on the dress and was unable to zip it up so I asked the salesperson to help me. Once she was done and I turned around all she said was, "That is definitely your dress." I smiled at her and walked to the mirror to see for myself.
