When I woke up the next morning next to Alec it felt different.
After the countdown he grabbed my face and smashed his lips against mine before I even had a chance to process the fact that the voice in my mind had admitted to loving him.
The rest of the night was spent with us sharing kisses and me throwing back shot after shot trying to forget the little confession I had made subconsciously.
I was looking to blame my short lapse of judgement on the alcohol in my system. However, no matter how many shots I threw back last night I was still conscious enough to know it wasn't the drinks.
I turn my head and to the time to watch him as he slept. I watched as his chest rose up and down then my eyes made their way up to his face. I wanted to run my hands down his face but he looked so peaceful and I didn't want to risk waking him up.
My eyes found themselves wandering around the room. I made a face of confusion when I noticed we weren't in his dorm room. I tried to get up to see where we were but the moment I moved a inch out his arms he eyes shot open.
Noticing me trying to move of out his grip he pulls me back into his arms. "Morning." He says closing his eyes again.
"Morning. Where are we?"
"My house. I knew in the morning the boys in the frat house were probably going to be making so much noise and you'd probably have a headache so I just drove you here."
The only drink I had saw him touch all night was water and juice so I wasn't worried about him driving us here because I knew he didn't have at alcohol in his body.
"Wait by your house? You mean.." I ask trailing off.
"My mothers house." I nod. "Good thing I moved in across the street huh?" He says and I chuckle
"A great thing. Did Dina get home safely?"
"If I'm not mistaken she stayed at the dorms with Marco. Don't worry I made sure everybody was fine before I left with you."
Giving him a small grateful smile I say, "Thank you. Despite what you may think I really didn't black out last night regardless of how many drinks you saw me take. I can still remember last night." I watch him as he raises from the bed and put his back to on the headboard as he folds his arms.
"Well that's good to hear because I have a couple questions for you. One being what the hell were you doing with Carter last night?" I make a face due to the harshness of his voice. I lift myself up and sit in between his legs.
"When I left to go get a drink I decided that I needed fresh air more. I went to the gazebo and found him in there crying. I walked away but then he pulled me back and apologized for everything. He gave me a letter that Caleb gave him the day he died. He said he's been trying to give it to me for months but it never felt like the right time. He said he loved me and if he could take it back he would've. No denying that Carter is an asshole but I also really just think he has some unresolved trauma."
"So what does that mean for the two of you? Are you getting back together?" He says and I make a face of disgust.
I search his face to see if he was joking or not but I couldn't find any sign. He didn't even have any emotion was on his face. It was blank and that made me uneasy because I had no idea what he was thinking. I just knew that whatever it was it obviously couldn't have been good if he believed I was getting back together with him.
"Of course not. I already told you I don't love him anymore. If I ever get back together with him then shoot me twice." I watch him nod and grab my hand.
