Ivy yawns, laying her head on Reeds shoulder as Bailey talks to all the residents, "Uh, reaction, observation, communication- any questions so far?"

Almost every residents hand shoots up, "We are doing this because Chief Shepherd suggests we brush up on our patient sensitivity skills, thats why. And it just so happens, this morning was a very good time. Besides, half of you were raised by wolves. Reaction. 'Keep your face impassive. Whether prompted by a patients appearance or lab results..."

Bailey goes on as Ivy entertains herself by poking Jacksons leg. Whenever he looks over she stops, then starts again as soon as he looks away. She continues to do this as Jackson starts to swat at her hand, "Don't make jokes about patients. Not in front of them, not even in private."

"Well,"

Bailey turns to Cristina, "Yang."

She leans forward, "What if the joke is really funny?"

Bailey deadpans as the other residents laugh, "Its not. Neither was that one. Moving on."

Ivy raises her hand, "Dr. Bailey, since I am the best at patient care, may I-"

"No, Chief Shepherd has said everyone must be here, including you, he was very specific about that," Bailey commented.

Ivy sunked back down, "Seriously. It's like when I wanted to go to any party, Derek just has to stop me."

Jackson and Reed chuckle at the pouting girl.

Bailey writes on the board behind her, "Observation," then her pager beeps, "Yeah. Ah. Okay, 'use reflective listening, repeat the patients feelings back to them.' 'Um, I hear that you're concerned about the surgery. Let me explain the risks.''

As she turns back, Alex leans to his group, "I see you like vegetables, after surgery, you might become one."

This causes most of the residents to laugh, "Communication. 'Don't use jargon. Use language that the patient can understand. Be creative in using metaphors.'"

"Oh, I'm terrible with metaphors. I can never come up with them," Charles complains.

"Why, cause you're dumb as a box of hammers?" Cristina asks.

She gets some laughs, "You see, thats a good one. You're an ass, but that was a good one."

"Be clear and comprehensive. Explain all risks and probable outcomes, leaving nothing out. Question- Adamson," Bailey speed talks as Reed raises her hand.

She asks, "Why are you going so fast?"

"Yeah, Dr. Bailey, I thought you stopped breathing there for a second," Ivy commented.

"It just so happens that we have an emergent patient arriving who will need a little extra sensitivity. So remember to employ your R.O.C and you will- hmm- rock your patients world. Okay, that's enough of that. Follow me to the pit, Shepherd, you are to stay with the patient or patients family at all times," Bailey says, as the residents groan and laugh at Baileys terrible joke.

They all get up and meet Webber and Owen out be the ambulance bay. Ivy goes and stands next to Owen as Bailey addresses the group, "All right, people, remember what you've been taught. Use it throughout the day. There will be consequences if you don't."

They see firefighters starts running up, along with paramedics, "All right,"

Reed asks, "What, did the circus come to town?"

As the lift is put down, they see a severely overweight man and Jackson jokes, "No, just the elephant."

"Avery, you're off the case. Go," Bailey dismisses him.
