Ivy walks with Sofia and Callie around the park. Her and Meredith have been trading off morning walks and this is Ivys day.
Callie quizzes her, "You've found a 7.5 centimeter triple-a on your 85 year old patient. Go."
"Get an angio, assess their pulmonary and cardiac function, and see if he's a candidate for an endovascular repair," Ivy lists.
"Nope."
"Why not?"
She tells her, "Because the patients dead. You killed him. He's dead."
Ivy argues, "I didn't kill him. What I did was a Stent graft and now he's living without the threat of a rupture, which is living. The opposite of dead."
Callie looks straight ahead, "Mm. I think you should buy him flowers, cause he dead."
"He is not dead. I saved him from complications of an open procedure with a technique that is minimally invasive. He's alive, very much not dead. Why are we stopping?" She asks as Callie stops in the middle of the path.
"Because we're done."
"D- because I killed him? But I didn't, I'm telling you, he's alive," Ivy argues.
Callie nods, "I know, and so do you, even when I try to psych you out of it, which means... you're ready for the boards. The Torres method is inside you, my co-ortho goddess. So, I'm gonna go home to my wife because I am sick of pushing this baby around this park every morning at the butt crack of dawn."
As she walks away, Ivy asks, "And me?"
She calls over her shoulder, "You're free, Shepherd. Go celebrate with Jackson or something."
"Really? You know too?!"

Ivy sits next to Derek in a meeting with the attendings. She has a happy energy around her which Derek has caught onto, "Okay, what's up with you?"
"I'm ready for my boards. Torres gave me her approval this morning and now, I'm on cloud nine," Ivy says, gesturing to a smiling Callie.
Jackson hands them a piece of paper, in which Bailey reads off, "Excellence is not an act, but a habit,' Aristotle. Avery, what is Aristotle doing in our staff meeting, and why are you even in here handing these out? And Shepherd why are you here?"
"You mean when I could be practicing medicine or studying for my boards? Yeah, I've asked myself that same question," he complains.
"Don't worry, I'll help you study later," Ivy tells him.
"Don't you have to study with Torres and Grey?" He looks down at her.
Callie pipes in, "Nope, because our littlest Dr. Shepherd is ready to ace her boards."
Ivy smiles as Arizona exclaims, "Mm, these are delicious. When did Hunt bump up the doughnut budget?"
Mark walks in, wearing a suit and a Bluetooth ear piece, "As chief, I'm a firm believer that a nice variety of baked goods is the right way to start any meeting."
Ivy looks at Jackson to see if this is actually happening and he just nods. Bailey can't believe is either, "As chief?"
"What are you talking about?" Derek asks.
Everyone starts talking over each other, "Okay, calm down, everyone. Dr. Hunt and Dr. Yang are out with the flu, feel free to check that with our chief resident," they all look to Ivy who nods that that's right, "I'll be acting chief in Dr. Hunts absence. Could be a day. Could be a week. What do we got for today?"
