Lucinda's POV:
"Wake up, pumpkin."

I slowly opened my eyes. I was laying down in Georgie's bed with the blanket wrapped around my body. One hand was closed and sat by my head while the other was around Luna. I look at my neck, and as expected, the necklace was there. I looked to my Mom, who was standing beside the bed while Dad was in the doorway holding the white key we needed. "Your father got the white key, we can leave now," Mom explained as I slowly sat up and rubbed my head.

"Are we just going to leave Rose's body here?" I asked as I got off the bed and fixed my hair. Dad sighed. "I'm sorry, kiddo, we have to...we can't take her with us," he replied. This was the answer I was expecting. It would be weird carrying a dead body around, let alone Rose's. I sighed before nodding at Dad. "Come on you two, let's get out of here," Dad said as he left the room. Mom turned to me before taking my hand and leading me out of the room.

It took me a while to get down the stairs, but with Mom's help, I didn't trip. I stopped to turn around and look at the basement door. My sister's body was sitting on the other side. She promised me that we'd find Georgie together! She said that we'd make a chocolate cake when we got home! What was that weird dream I had? I shook my head as I pushed those thoughts out of my head and followed Mom and Dad outside. It was dark, and the only light source was the house.

"What in the world has gotten into her?" I heard Dad ask. "Penny's never acted like this before," Mom added, "Not to mention the fact that she killed Rose and tried to attack us." I looked down at my boots before speaking. "What are we going to do?" I asked. Dad sighed and shook his head before speaking. "We need to go get some help from the station," he said, "Sophie, take Cindy with you in Rose's car, okay?" Mom nodded as he walked past us.

"Come on, Cindy," Mom muttered as I followed her to Rose's car. Fortunately, her car was unlocked, so I got in the passenger seat while Mom was in the driver's seat. I brought my knees up to my chest as Mom started the car and drove away from the house of horrors. I grabbed my rucksack and took out my phone and earbuds. I still held Luna in one arm as I plugged in my earbuds and put them in my ears. I opened a random game on my phone and started to play. It was an attempt to get my mind off of Rose and Georgie.

Was it working? No.

The games I played, the high scores I beat, and the avatars I made couldn't get my mind off of my dead sister and my missing best friend. I felt Mom tap my shoulder, so I took my earbuds out of my ears and turned to her. "Trying to get your mind off of Rose, huh?" Mom asked. I nodded. "I can't believe she's dead...how are we supposed to tell Doggy and her friends?" I asked in response, "On top of that, Georgie is still missing!"

"Sweetie, I know you care deeply about Rose. Believe me when I say that I miss her, too. However, you can't let her sacrifice be for nothing," Mom said as she drove, "Rose would want you to pick up where she left off. She'd want you to find Georgie." Mom sighed. "You're afraid of something, are you?" She asked. My eyes slightly widened. "How did you-" That was all I got out before Mom chuckled. "I'm your mother, sweetheart, I know when something's up," she replied before sighing.

"You're afraid of taking a stand for yourself."

"What do you mean?" I asked. "You keep telling yourself that you'll never be good enough, so you just stuck to being in our shadows," Mom explained, "You've been there your entire life and you're too scared to step out. You're afraid of growing stronger, aren't you?" I was in a state of shock. I nodded slowly at Mom. How did she know? Did I really make it that obvious that I was used to being in their shadows? Was Mom mad at me?

"Cindy, I'm happy knowing that you admire us, but if you want people to know who you are, you have to show them who you are," Mom finished. It was silent for a few moments before I nodded. "I will, Mom. I'll show everyone who I am. Thanks for the advice. I love you," I replied before Mom chuckled. "I love you too, sweetheart. Don't you ever forget that," she said, "I'll be there to protect you, no matter what."
