⚠️TW!! OC x Canon!!⚠️
Lucinda's POV:
"Show yourself, we know you have been watching us!"
Zizzy's voice stayed firm as she spoke and held her fencing foil out infront of her. The person behind the counter of the room we were in didn't budge. Something was telling me that they were afraid of something. That something was most likely us. I couldn't blame them. I would most likely feel a similar way if two people barged into the room I tried my hardest to maximize its security. After a few moments of silence, the person finally stood up from behind the counter.
I was too shocked to realize that the both of us gasped at each other simultaneously. The counter was the only thing separating me from the fifth pig that stood on the other side. Similar to the other pigs, he clutched a bat tightly in his hands. He wore a sky blue shirt with a dark blue sweater ontop. The hat on his head was the same color as his sweater. There were a couple of bandages on his hands, but they were way smaller than my own.
His cobalt blue eyes stared into mine, and I felt the entire world disappear around us. It felt like nothing else was real. The infection, the death of my family, the tiredness my body felt, none of it was real at that moment. I wondered if he felt the same way I did. I wondered if he was surprised to see me. I tried my hardest to find my voice, but to no avail. I tried and tried and tried over and over, and after a bit, I managed to find my voice. The only thing I could get out was his name.
"Georgie...?"
"Cindy...?"
Him saying that was all it took for me to realize that he struggled to find his voice aswell. The world started to reappear around us, and I felt myself let out a sigh I didn't know I was holding. I immediately noticed the tears that started to form in his eyes. I found myself flinching when he ran around the counter and towards me. The last thing he did was throw his bat onto the ground before he threw his arms around me and buried his face in my shoulder.
"Oh, Cindy," Georgie sobbed into my shoulder, "You're alive, you're really alive!" I was shocked by his actions. While I knew that he was my best friend, I flinched at the slightest touch. "Georgie..." I murmured as I wrapped my arms around his figure, clinging onto him as if my life depended on it. I had every reason to. He was the reason why I kept going, even after my family died, even after I lost Doggy and Bunny to the infection.
Then I popped the big question. "Why did you run, Georgie?" I asked, my voice slightly shaky. Georgie pulled away from the hug the smallest bit in order to keep his hands on my shoulders before he spoke up, his eyes immediately meeting the floor below us. "Well, like I said before; After my family visited the hospital, they acted weird...and scary," he explained, "I came here looking for Grandma, but everyone looked scary. So I hid."
Zizzy finally spoke up. "You'll be safe with us, Georgie," she said. He seemed surprised at the fact that Zizzy was here with me, thus proving my point of him seeing the world vanish just as I did. Georgie finally took his hands off of my shoulders and turned to look at the zebra beside us. "Will I see my family again?" He asked nervously, and I felt something snap in me. Though his family was infected, they were still alive. My family, on the other hand, was dead.
The feelings of hatred and jealousy returned, but instead of being directed towards my sister, they were directed towards my best friend since diapers. He had the chance to see his family again, and I didn't. I had to hug a pillow and close my eyes and only imagine that my loved ones were hugging me back. I directed my gaze towards the floor as silence remained between Georgie and Zizzy. "No..." I spoke in my head, "Don't let your feelings bring you down." I put my hand on Georgie's shoulder before speaking.
