Lucinda's POV:
My hands hurt from pushing the door open.
I peeked into the train as my fingers wrapped around the doorway. The windows and doorways seemed to lead into a black void. Chairs and poles covered the walls and center of the train. The lights inside of the train weren't working, however. A sigh of relief escaped my lips as I wiped sweat off of my forehead. I stepped off of the train and onto the platform, where Bunny sat, leaning against a pillar. I turned to look at her with my hands at my side.
"Okay, something is definitely up with her," I thought to myself as I looked at her. She was staring down at the floor with a sad look on her face. I tilted my head at her as I put my hands into the trench's pockets. We both just sat and stood there in silence. Bunny's heavy breaths were louder than my light ones.
Bunny seemed relieved when I got the train working, but that expression changed in less than a minute. I was somewhat impressed.
"Uh...Bunny? The train is working now," I said as I pointed towards the train. Bunny turned to look at me with sadness in her eyes. She then looked towards the train before looking back at my confused face. She then let out a heavy sigh as she faced the ground once more. Now I was even more confused. Why was she acting like this? I moved my left hand up to my hip as my right one moved to my chest, right over where my gut was. "Don't get emotionally attached to them."
"Bunny? Are you alright?"
"Mr.P gave me a potion..." Bunny finally said, "...I drank it." My expression darkened as the crossbow fell from my opened rucksack and onto the floor. Bunny buried her face in her hands and shook her head as though she was disappointed in herself. I questioned whether it was odd that I knew almost immediately what she meant. "No...she's not talking about the same potion Doggy had," my head tried to tell me, but deep down I knew. I knew...
"I didn't know that it would soon turn me into..."
The grip on my right hand tightened. "I knew it," I thought to myself, "I was right!" I bit my lip as I moved my gaze towards the floor. "Oh..." was the only thing that escaped my chapped lips. I started to play with my black fingerless gloves to distract myself, but to no avail. "I'm so sorry, Cindy..." Bunny said for the third time. Was it the third time? I already lost track. "It looks like this is where we part ways," she added with a sad smile.
"You can still come with me," I blurted out suddenly, "We can find him." I wasn't sure why I chose to keep pushing Bunny when I knew that I'd have to leave her here. Maybe it was my self conscious that was afraid to be alone once more. I wasn't sure. All I knew was that I owed my gut everything I had. It was rare for others to see me trust my gut feelings. When it told me not to get too emotionally attached, I was hesitant, but agreed nonetheless.
I never expected my gut to be right.
"No, Cindy..." Bunny replied with a sad chuckle as tears fell from her eye, "...you need to go without me." I knew that very well. I also knew that now had another reason to hunt Mr.P down. I would practically be a bounty hunter at this point. I stopped playing with my gloves and dropped my hands down to my sides. My expression stayed blank and dark as Bunny looked up at me, her eye slightly pink from crying. "Don't look weak, Lucinda..." I said to myself.
I flinched slightly when Bunny sat down on her knees and held her arms out to me. I knew what she was asking for, but this time I was hesitant to give it to her. This would be the last time I'd see her for who knows how long. I struggled to find my raspy voice, but after what felt like an eternity, I managed to force it out. "I witness my family get murdered infront of me, I lost Doggy in the forest, and now I have to abandon you, too..." I said before sitting down on my knees.
