Lucinda's POV:
"You have no idea how relieved I am to know that you're okay."

I woke up a few minutes ago, and I escaped the gallery with Doggy, leaving my father's body behind. "I'm glad I'm okay, too," I replied to Doggy with a smile. I wasn't sure as to whether or not the smile was real. However, I was sure a few things. Like how I'd have to survive out there on my own, most likely with a bunch of infected people who want to kill me, and how this would definitely affect my mental health for years, maybe even decades, to come.

I had a few questions, too.

Who was Memory? And why was something telling me that she was right? Why did I keep feeling strange presences around me, when I looked to see no one there? Why did they feel comforting? All these questions running through my head should've made it hurt, but I felt nothing. The sharp pain in my ankle was gone too, even though it was a mess when I took off my boot and sock. Doggy was currently putting bandages on my ankle. It was smart of me to bring a first aid kit with me before going on the investigation.

I was staring at the bruises on my knees while Doggy wrapped a bandage roll on my left ankle. I sighed before taking out my mother's coin from my pocket. "Should I carve my own path?" I gave the coin a flip. "Yes." I stared up at the stars above me as I put the coin back in my pocket. Even the stars looked duller than usual, and that was a bad sign to me. I snapped back to reality when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I could feel myself flinch at the cold touch.

"Woah, sorry to scare you, kiddo," Doggy said, "This should be enough for your ankle for the time being until I can get you to a hospital." I nodded before attempting to stand up. Doggy put both of his hands on my shoulders to keep me down. "Slow down there, buddy, your ankle isn't gonna get better right away, It'll be atleast 4 weeks before you can walk properly again," he explained. I groaned in response and buried my face in my knees.

"Cindy? What's wrong?" Doggy asked, "Does your ankle still hurt?" I lifted and shook my head. "No, it's not that, it's just..." I sighed, "They just...don't stop coming after us, don't they?" Doggy put one hand on his knee and shook his head. "I don't get it. But hey, it's nothing we can't handle. You know how to defend yourself, and remember that arrest Rose and I made in the alley, way before this?" He asked. I nodded, a shiver going down at the sight and sound of my sister sobbing about it just 6 days ago.

When she was still alive.

"Yeah, but you weren't arresting these...things!" I refuted, confused as to why I was calling my friends 'things', "They don't do anything but attack. They killed my family." A part of me felt anger towards the Piggy family, while another felt pity, like there was more about their situation than meets the eye. "Listen, Cindy. You're a good person," Doggy said with a hand on my shoulder, "Even in desperate times, you held onto your morality." I moved my hands from my sides to my knees.

"It's the people like you who succeed. As long as you stay who you are, you'll get to where you need to be."

The question was, where do I need to be?

I clenched my fists and looked up at Doggy. "You're right, Doggy. I can't let the situation make me lose sight of who I am," I replied with a nod. Doggy chuckled and ruffled my hair. "Good! Now, let's find someplace safe, we'll have time to think of what to do," he said before he picked me up and put me on his back. I giggled before wrapping my arms around his neck and putting my head on his shoulder. I was going to have to get used to getting carried around.

"Sounds like a plan!"

1 day later...
Doggy and I agreed to stay in the forest for now.
