- Ocean -

The pine needles crunch underneath my paws. Some of them occasionally poking and hurting my paws. I spot an Owcock on a branch nearby. The large bird, its knowing yellow eyes following me as I pass by, its head turning all the way around to watch me. Its feathers full of tons of different shades of gray. A few small bright blue and green feathers flop down from the top of its head, matching the colors of its tail. The tail hangs down over the branch, spanning around two and a half feet long. "Who who who whooo who," it says.

"Are you someone's escaped pet?" I ask it. The animal gives no reply. I give it one last look before continuing on. Walking, walking, endless walking.

She lied to me. Esemais said she wouldn't tell anyone, but she did. She lied to me.

Ocean, whether you admit it or not, you're homeless, she'd said. She told me to get help. She told me she wouldn't tell anyone about my living conditions.

Ese- however you pronounce her name, cares about you. She wanted you to get help, and when you refused, she got it for you. She lied because she cares. She cares about me. She wants the best for me. She sent that cat to come get me... to help me. She didn't betray me... lying is different than betraying... Isn't it?

I look back to where I came from. Would she still be there? If I decided to go with her? With a sigh, I turn my body around and walk back towards my pile of leaves.
