- Brittney -

"Can I please change my magic class?"

Principal Luna sighs, "What are you suggesting I change it to? Something easier? Something with more of your friends in it?"

"No," I say, "I'm not a leaf cat dragon. No matter how hard I try, I can't turn invisible. Yesterday, while I was trying to turn invisible, I blew fire, instead. I'm not a leaf cat dragon. I'm an erif cat dragon! Please change my class. I'm begging you! I don't want to accidentally catch a cat on fire!"

"Fine," the principal says.

I give the principal a beaming grin. "Thank you!" I cry.

The principal brings me to my new class, acting as my escort.

I snicker behind her back. I played her right into my lies. I didn't blow fire yesterday. I wish I did. That would mean I have magic. I'm hopping that if I come to this class it'll create a spark of magic that I didn't know I had.

I enter my new classroom. It looks like my old one. It has dozens of chairs, boring plain walls made of sticks, dried mud, and leaves. The only difference is the faces. The students are mostly orange tabbies, unlike the brown tabby leaf cat dragons of my last class.

"Is she another emperor come to practice her fire?" asks the teacher.

"No," replies the principle, "she's a magic late bloomer." The principal turns to walk away, "I trust you can introduce yourself fine without me," she says.

The room is packed. Way more students than my last class. All of my new classmates stare at me, making me feel squeamish, and self aware.

"What is your name young one?" asks the teacher.

"I-I'm Brittney," I say.
