At school, I'm free from bullies. No one notices me. I'm just another face in the crowd, and I'm fine with that. I surround myself with my group of friends, the kittens from my magic class. Ned, Esemais, Coal, and Smoky. I sit with them during lunch, and I walk with them to my classes.

"I think you have an admirer," says Ned, nodding towards Brittney, who has been watching me for a while, not saying anything. The kitten is undoubtedly warried about me after our meeting in the forest.

"Yeah, I know," I reply, giving her a glance, "her name is Brittney... I met her in the forest a while back. I told her that I'm a mer cat dragon."

"You told her you're a mer cat dragon?  Why? No one but us know that. You never tell anyone that. It's your little secret."

"I guess I just felt like it at the time," I can feel the lie in my voice. I told her because... she... she is so light... so happy... so honest... I felt like I needed to be honest to her, too.

"I see," he says. I can tell he doesn't believe me, but he keeps that to himself.

We reach our first hour, where we sit down. "Hey," whispers Esemais to me, "how's life at The Orphanage?"

"I was living fine before you came in," I hiss at her.

"All I was trying to do was to help you. You weren't willing to get help, so I got it for you. You may hate me, you may hate The Orphanage, but it's for your own good!" she turns away from me, her eyes full tears for a second before she wipes them away.

Truthfully, I would rather be stuck with bullies, than with Carp. Lying to my friend to make her hurt. Lying to her because I'm still mad at her, even if I'm also grateful to her. Lying to her, when I know I should tell her the truth.
