- Ocean -
In the morning, I quickly run outside, making sure to head out earlier than yesterday, in order to avoid my step-dad, Carp. The sky is still a little dark, the sun just starting to rise, the clouds above the distant pine trees turning a bright pink color.
I sprint around the lake, its waters still in this early morning with all the Mer cat dragons asleep. I make it to the school, a sweaty mess. I give myself a quick grooming before entering. The principal sits at her desk, working on some paperwork. She looks up as I enter.
"I finished filling out the papers," I say.
She gives me a kind smile, and takes the packet from me. She flips through them and looks at my class choices. "You probably won't be able to get half of the classes you want, you started in the middle of a semester, and most of the classes don't have room for another student, but I'll do my best to get as many of the classes you want as I can.
"Hmmm. You didn't put your house number down, you'll need it so I can contact you when your classes are ready."
"My family is currently in the moving process," I lie, "we keep moving from one house to another, as our host gets tired of us."
"Hmmm," she says.
"When will you be able to get my classes?"
"I'll try to get to it as soon as I can. It may take me a week or longer to get it ready for you. I'm a busy cat."
"I'll come every day to see if they're ready!" I say.
The cat nods, then returns to whatever paperwork she was doing before I arrived. I take this as a dismissal: leaving the building and running home.
