- Ocean -

We follow her to the front room. We reach it right as a bell chimes. The little metal bell in the waiting room.

Kittens come running in a huge clowder. They know what the bell means. Someone is wanting to adopt,  and we, having been the first to arrive, are more likely to be seen and adopted.

My little sister, not even a month old, knows what she's talking about...

- Emerald -

Inside the waiting room, I see them talking.

"How many would you like to adopt?" asks Ti.

"Oh, I don't know. One, maybe more. However many of them I'd like."

"Do you have an age preference?"

"Not really. I just want to adopt some little kittens so I can have some company. Most my age have a mate and kittens of their own by now, but I've never found the one. Recently, I've just been so lonely, ever since my sister died, it just hasn't been the same."

"I see. Well, how bout you come and see them, and you can have your pick of the lot."

"Alright. I'd love to see them."

A few seconds latter, the door opens, to reveal them to everyone else. Ti walks in front, and the other cat dragon, a largely over weight brown tabby, shuffles through the door.

"Oh, there are so many of them! and they are already here!" says the obese cat.

"Yes, they come when the hear the bell. They all are hoping to someday get adopted," replies TI.

"Really? But you're so kind to them. Don't they love it here?"

Ti shrugs, "I guess, but they all want their own families, where they will be loved and known. Here, they are just another face in the crowd. I don't know all their names. They don't get the love they deserve, or the recognition for their talents, or hard work in school. Good parents can provide all of these for their children. I can only provide food and shelter."

The cat dragon nods. "I understand," she says, "I will adopt as many kittens as I can, so I can give them the motherly love they've been missing out on." She turns back to the crowd of hopeful kittens. She sees me and grins.

"Well hello little one, what's your name?"

"I'm Emerald," I reply in a fake little innocent kitten voice.

"That's a really pretty name, Emerald."

"Thank you, ma'am. What's your name?"

She smiles and uses her wing to give my head a little ruffle. "I'm Glimmer," she says.

"Wow, that's a really cool name!"

"Why, thank you. How would you like it if I adopted you, Emerald?"

I force tears to my eyes.

"Oh, do you not want to be adopted?"

"Yeah, I do... but can you adopt my siblings, too? I-If you won't, I-I won't let you adopt me!"

"Well of course I'll adopt your siblings! Where are they?"
