Chapter 12: I'll Learn To Be a Weather

- Ocean -

I lurch away to footsteps. "Go away," I say without looking up, "I know what you're going to say."

"Oh? Then what am I going to say?" the teacher's voice sounds calm, and nice, making me look up.

Her eyes aren't mad or accusing whatsoever. They are kind and sorrowful, like she's worried about me. I feel a loss for words. This lady... cares... about me.

She smiles. "My students were mad after you left, but I realized that... what you did... that magic... that isn't any magic I've seen before... Did you even know you could do that?"

"Um... I... I've never made water float in the air before. I have made it ripple, though."

"Really? What type of cat dragon are you?"

I sigh. "I'm a mer cat dragon," I say.

She looks me up and down. "Are both your parents mers?" she asks.

I shrug. "I don't know. I've never met my dad."

"Does your form change whenever you get wet like other mer cats?"

"Yeah."

"Hmmm. I guess it makes sense. You can't breathe underwater, can you."

"No."

She nods, having figured out my situation in her head.

"I want to give you a second chance," she changes topics.

"I don't need a second chance, I don't belong."

"I doubt that. I'll help you find where you belong."

I can't find the words to reply. 

"I told Principal Luna about you."

"YOU DID WHAT!!!???"

"I told her my suspicions. She wasn't surprised. She told me your stories were quite elaborate. She suggested-"

"For m to never go to school again? For me to go to the mer cat dragon school? Last time I tried that, I almost drowned!"

She shakes her head. "No, no, not at all. She suggested you go to the weather cat dragon class."

"Why?"

"She thought that you could figure out how to control the weather, if you are taught. I understand her thought process. Water is a large part of weather. Mer cat dragons can control water, right?"

I give her a slight nod.

She gives me her nice smile. "We won't deny you the blessings of an education. We will do our best to give you an excellent education."

"Thank you. I'll go to it. I'll learn to be a Weather."
