Request: Maguro Sasaki x reader (Puyo Puyo Tetris)

My friends have always told me that they know they could count on me to keep a secret, so they tend to confine in me whenever they need to talk to someone.

But this is because I've held a secret to myself for as long as I can remember

I have a crush on my best friend, Maguro Sasaki

I've known Maguro for years now. I had just moved to town after my father passed and my mom and I just so happened to move into the house next door to him. I think I was 5 at the time and I was a very shy kid. I was upstairs in my room getting my stuff out when I heard my mother call me from downstairs. Rushing quickly to my mother's side, I see an older lady and a young boy with purple hair sitting on the couch. His bangs covered his eyes which I thought was weird, but then my instincts kicked in and I quickly hid behind my mother. She chuckles and urged me to greet the two but I clung to her tightly. The young boy sent me a smile and was quick to introduce himself to me

From then on, Maguro came over almost every day to play with me. Everything was fine up until we both started Junior high

Me, being the shy, reserved person that I am, I didn't make many friends and I wasn't really open to it either, while Maguro made lots of them. One he is particularly close to was Ringo. She's very smart and sweet, and the two get a long very well. And lately, he's been flaking on our hangouts to go hang with her.

"Um Maguro do you want to play puyo puyo today?"

"Sorry N/n, I can't today I promised to meet up with Ringo"

"Maguro could you help me study for the math test?"

"I can't N/n, I'm gonna study with Ringo"

"Maguro-"

"Not now N/n gotta meet up with Ringo"

It got to the point where I stopped asking to hang out and decided that maybe it was time to just be by myself. I'm too afraid to make new friends, and I don't want to keep pestering Maguro to hang out with me when he clearly prefers to hang with Ringo

But...I don't want to lose my best friend

"Hey mom I'm back from school"

"Hi sweetie how was school today?"

"It was fine, scored high on my math test and on my chem test."

"That's great honey. Is Maguro coming over for dinner?"

"Probably not. I'm gonna head up to do my homework"

Before she could reply, I go upstairs and close my door. Setting my bag on the floor, I throw myself on my bad and pull the covers over my body. I begin to ponder about my choices and what I could do. When did I start being so afraid of meeting new people? When did I become afraid of losing Maguro? My phone buzzes, sending me out of my daze and I pick it up carefully and read the message.

Ringo: Hey Y/n! Maguro gave me your number and I was wondering if you wanted to join myself, Arle, and Ammite for some shopping? This is Ringo by the way

Y/n: Um sorry i don't think I can, thanks for the invite though

I turn off and plug in my phone, then turn to my bag and start grabbing my homework.

'Maguro gave her my number, does he really want me to get off his back that badly?'

Some time passes while I do my homework, the only sound heard is the clock ticking in my room. After about 2 hours I finish everything, leaning back in my chair and staring at the sunset out my window.

"Y/n?" My Moo knocks at my door. "Maguro is here. He said he wants to talk to you"

My eyes slightly widen and I shoot up out of my seat and go downstairs to see him waiting on the couch.

"Maguro? What are you doing here? I thought you were with Ringo?"

"I thought she texted you to hangout. She told me that you said that you couldn't so I came here to check on you."

"Oh...yeah I'm just doing some homework and studying for some tests"

"Y/n don't you think it's time to make friends other than me?"

His words seem to pierce my chest, making my heart break a little bit. I swallow down the lump in my throat and let out a shaking breath. "Yeah maybe...sorry I need to finish my homework now"

"Y/n wait that's not-" his phone starts ringing interrupting his sentence. He picks up and I hear Ringo's voice, beginning to retreat back upstairs. He doesn't move from where he stands, and I make it back to my room and shut the door.

'So he really is tired of me...'

~The next day~

"I'm leaving for school" I say while putting on my shoes at the door. My mom waves goodbye and I start walking to school, my headphones plugged in and volume very high. Upon getting to school I race to sit in the library and read a book until classes start. When the bell rings myself as well as the rest of the students in the library quickly pick up our stuff and head to home room. I take my seat in the back of the class and begin taking out my stuff when I see Maguro and Ringo, as well as her two other friends walk in together. I snap my head back down to my stuff, taking out my notebooks to pretend I'm writing something. The teacher comes in shortly after and the class starts. The entire time Maguro did not turn to look at me, but that should be expected being of the events of yesterday. Worry and pain starts to fill my heart as I think of the scenarios that could be happening in his head, but all of them make my anxiety rise.

"Miss L/n. Could you tell me the answer to #5?" My teacher snaps me out of my gaze, causing me to avert my attention to the board, quickly reading the assigned number.

"The answer is the square root of 10, which is 3.16"

"Very good Miss L/n"

~Lunch~

So far, I've avoided Maguro like a plague. I don't know if I can confront him after yesterday, or if I even want to see him.

"Y/n there you are" his voice speaks from behind me "I've been looking for you everywhere"

"Oh uh hey Maguro...."I nervously fiddle with my sleeve, not making eye contact with him

"Listen I didn't mean what I said yesterday I mean I did but I didn't. I want you to have other friends but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy having you as my friend I just thing you could use more friends"

"Ah i see...that's why you asked Ringo to text me to hang out with me...."

"I mean I didn't make her she kind of wanted to"

"But you still brought it up"

"Yeah because I want you to be friends with her"

"Why though? You already have her and her friends why do you care?"

"Because I like you that's why I care"

My eyes widen at his statement and his face dusts pink. We stand in silence for a bit before I say something.

"Maguro I....like you too"

"Really?" His voice showed a hint of surprise. "Then should be go on a date?"

"Um yeah sure..."

"Great I'll see you after school then" he gives me a hug then races down the hall to I assume tell Ringo

Maybe being friends with them isn't so bad. After all, I'll have Maguro with me.
