Storms always brought me a bit of discomfort. Although I live in the capital where it's nice and dry, they've always troubled me. As a young noblewoman, of age and quite beautiful if i do say so myself, it's not uncommon for me to be courted, but no male has ever caught my interest. The thunder roars as I let out a sigh, closing the curtains of the hallway. Rain pours harshly on the roof, falling on the window. A knock at my door causes me to furrow my brows in confusion. Who could be knocking at this hour and in this weather? I walk towards the door, opening it slightly. I feel the rain starting to come in, but no voice is heard. I open the door wider, and see a basket in front of the door. Removing the cover, my eyes fall on dark hair on a small child sleeping. I see a small card on the side and read it.

Please take care of him because I can't. His name is Yuno.

The baby starts to cry and I close the door, picking him up into my arms, trying to sooth him. He starts to calm down and relax against me.

What an adorable little boy. Wait...this isn't a dream right? When I wake up tomorrow, will he be gone? Thunder claps again and Yuno begins to cry.

"There there, everything will be okay, I'm here to take care of you now"

~the next morning~

My eyes open slowly and the smell of rain filling my nose. Looking out, seems like the storm has passed. I roll over a see a small child sleeping soundly next to me.

'So it really wasn't a dream' I smile softly while stroking his head. Yuno begins to stir, staring at me with his golden eyes.

"You're eyes are beautiful" He giggles at my touch and as he moves, I notice he has a necklace around his neck.

'Interesting. If this is the only thing your parents gave you aside from your name, it must be important' Yuno crawls on top of me, starting to play with my hair.

'Wait a minute...idiot! You really didn't think this through! One, you have no husband, two, where the heck are you going to find anything for a baby?! Maybe I should take him to Mrs Theresa'

Yuno coos, giving me a small smile, making my heart skip a beat. I feel a smile of my own beginning to form on my face as I gently pat his back.

"On second thought, I think I'll keep you" Yuno laughs in response. "I'm pretty sure I can just buy clothes and supplies in the capital anyways. 

~6 years later~

I smile as I watch Yuno play out in the backyard. I can't believe it's been 6 years since that day. He really is growing up fast. 

"Momma!" I smile at Yuno as he waves from the tree he's trying to climb. He's been calling me 'Momma' for a while. Yuno's very smart and knows I'm not his real mom, yet he insists on calling me that, not that I'm complaining.

"Be careful Yuno! I don't want you to get hurt!"

"Miss Y/n" One of the maids walks up to me. "You have a letter from Father Orsi and Sister Lily"

"Huh...haven't heard from them in a while" I open the letter carefully and take out the paper

Dear Y/n,

I know it's been a while since we've written to you, and we just wanted to know how you were doing. Word is going around, even over here in Hage that you've taken in a little boy. Some of the nobles have spotted you with a small child and were wondering if it's yours, but knew that it's probably not because they know you still refuse to settle down. Anyways, Father is wondering when you'll come visit again (he doesn't want to admit it but he misses you)

I smile as I fold the letter again, looking up at Yuno who comes running over.

"Want to go on an adventure?" His eyes sparkle and a wide smile forms on his face as he nods vigorously.

I get on my broom with Yuno in front of me and we start to fly to Hage. Father Orsi and Sister Lily i met through Mrs Theresa when I went to visit her one time. I ended up going to Hage for a little while to help with the church a little bit before Yuno showed up at my doorstep. Since then, I haven't gone to visit mainly because I didn't want to leave Yuno all alone. He raises his arms, a wide smile of excitement on his face as I hold onto him tight so he doesn't fall. We eventually get to Hage and carefully place Yuno on the floor. He lets out a small giggle and clutches to my leg as Father Orsi and Sister Lily come out to greet us.

"Y/n! It's so good to see you!" Father Orsi hugs me

"Is this Yuno?" Sister Lily asks. I smile and nod, picking him up. "Say hi Yuno" He clutches to my shirt, giving a soft wave. 

"He's a little shy when it comes to people" I laugh

"Please come in, it's been a while since you've been here" I smile at Yuno and peck his forehead. "There's a few kids here and I'm pretty sure one of them is around your age, do you want to go play with them?" He nods his head, a bit unsure and I smile. "The kids here have always been very nice, I'm sure you'll be okay. I'll be inside the church if you need anything" I watch as he runs around the corner to some other kids and I step inside the church, Father Orsi waiting for me

"Where did you find him?"

"He was left on my doorstep on a stormy night. He looked only a about 8 months at most and I couldn't just leave him there so I took him in"

"And you've raised him?"

"Yeah...I was a bit skeptical at first because I'm young with no spouse, and debated taking him to Miss Theresa, but I couldn't"

Father Orsi smiles and pats my shoulder. "You've done a great job clearly"

We stay at the church for a few more hours and the sun starts to set. "We should get going, it's getting late" I tell Sister Lily and she nods. 

"Come back soon" I wave goodbye and lift Yuno into my arms. He wears a wide smile and giggles lightly

"Have fun?" 

He nods, the wide smile still present on his face. "I met a boy named Asta and he wants to become the Wizard King just like me!"

"Is that so? Well, then we should start training" Yuno's eyes sparkle. "I'll teach you everything I know about wind magic"

~9 years later~

I smile as Yuno puts on his boots and fixes his clothes with his grimoire in hand. He turns back to me, sending me a small smile.

"I guess this is it" I laugh, tears starting to brim my eyes

"Thank you for the past 15 years, I couldn't have done any of this without you"

"Yuno, I'm so proud of you, you're going to be an amazing magic knight" I place a hand on his cheek and he leans into it. "Now go, become the Wizard King, never forget that I love you"

"I promise to write and come visit. When I become the Wizard king, you'll live in the castle with me. Thank you for all you've done...Momma" I give him one last hug and a peck on the cheek before he walks out the door towards the capital. A small smile appears on my face as my tears start to flow. 

"Make me proud, Yuno"
