"Geez would just act a little more mature sometimes?" akito muttered under his breath

This was the first time he had ever said something like that to me

Akito and i have been friends since elementary school, and both of us usually were very carefree and one thing we both had in common was our love for music

For him, it was his life, his everything, almost like it was his air

For me, it was my outlet

I didnt have the best family life growing up, my parents argued a lot which eventually led to their divorce and my mother taking my sibling with her

Since then, the relationship i had with him had been strained. it's not like we hate each other, we just don't really know each other. He worked long hours late into the night leaving me to myself most of the time, which lead me to have to grow up and care for myself at a young age

akito always made sure i was ok

he always made sure i smiled

everything changed when he went to that RAD WEEKEND event, and he has never stopped talking about wanting to surpass it

of course i supported him every step of the way

even when him and Toya decided to team up with An and Kohane

in secret i was pursuing my own career in music, so i never let it bother me, but since then the relationship we had seemed to grow weaker

i admit i can be childish at times, maybe a bit loud and too carefree, but i wasn't allowed to be as a kid

i never expected him to say something like that

"hey akito, do you want to come with me after school to the new cafe down the street" i speak with a smile after poking my head in his classroom

"fine as long as we're done in time for practice"

"yay!" i exclaimed "see you after school then!" with that i rushed back to class, taking a seat with my friends

i wonder if i wouldn't have invited him out that day, would he have said that eventually?

~after school~

i hummed leaning on the gate waiting for akito to come outside, a big smile on my face as i think about the food we'll be eating at the cafe. i had seen it on social media a few days ago and thought maybe akito would want to go and would need an outlet

and maybe, just maybe, i would find inspiration for my next song

"did you hear the new song my Iris?!" a student spoke

"yes! it's probably one of the best ones yet!"

Iris is my music name. i wanted to keep my identity hidden and still be a regular high school student, but also put music out there to help support my father now that he's getting older.

a lot of people started to take a liking to me after i released my 4th song, which ironically was around the time vivid bad squad released their first song as well

"y/n." akito spoke from behind. "ready to go?"

"yup!" i smiled widely and began walking, but not before hearing some students talking

"hey who do you like more, vivid bad squad or iris?"

"hmmm that's hard, they're both super talented, but i think i'm gonna go with iris. she just accomplished so much on her own and i just feel like her music has so much more emotion"
