A sigh escapes my lips as I stare at myself in the mirror, dressed in formal clothing but not a smile on my face. After getting over the initial shock of what father and mother announced during dinner, the frustration within me grew. How could they do this to me? How could they choose someone for me like that?

~Flashback~

"Y/n hurry or we'll be late!" my mom calls from downstairs just before me racing down to meet her. She mentioned to me yesterday that we would be having dinner at the main estate tonight because of some 'wonderful news' that she said I would find out at dinner

Once everyone is seated, everyone begins to catch up with whoever is around them. I turn to Momiji and Hatsuharu, who are seated next to me and listen to them tell me stories of their winter vacation.

The curses broke some time ago now, so it's like a weight was lifted off of everyone's shoulders. I smile gently at hatsuharu who for once looks formal, and I can't help but admire how attractive he looks.

I've had feelings for him for a while, we practically grew up together after all, since his parents and my parents have always been close, but I haven't gotten around to telling him. I've been hesitating since the rumors about him and Rin dating started circulating around the estates.

"What do you think the announcement is about?" Momiji questions, looking towards my mother who is chatting with Yuki's parents.

"I'm not sure, my mom said that I would find out at this dinner, but seemed pretty excited about it. Any guesses Haru?"

He doesn't say anything, just shrugs and turns to the other side. He's been acting like this for a while towards me, and I can't figure out why.

Mom then raises a glass, hitting it lightly with a table knife. "May I have everyone's attention! It is with great pleasure and happiness that I make this announcement. My dear daughter, Y/n and Yuki are engaged and to be married!"

"WHAT!?" Yuki and I both exclaim at the same time.

"Yuki is there a problem" his mom asks

"Y/n that is no way to respond. Haven't I taught you proper manners?" Mom scolds me, glaring at me from the middle of the room.

"What do you mean married? Mom we just graduated high school! Not to mention we're not interested in marriage yet"

'Why...why is she doing this?'

"Ehem...Well Yuki's parents are fine with it, and your father and I are more than happy for you to be with someone as stable as Yuki"

"But you didn't even ask us!" Yuki screams. "You didn't even ask if we were ok with it!"

"We're doing this for you" His mom snaps back at him. "You both being married is good for the clan"

Not wanting to hear another word of this, I get up and run out of the estate, down to the river, sitting on the bench. I tuck my knees into my chest, frustration running through my veins, angry tears brimming at my eyes. I hear footsteps approach me, someone sitting down next to me.

"I'm sorry...I had no idea they were planning this" Yuki signs. "I know...you have feelings for Hatsuharu, this must be hard for you"

"It's not your fault Yuki...we couldn't have known they were planning this" I sigh, laying back on the grass
