Sasuke x reader (x Gaara) (Naruto Highschool AU)

Freshman year. His name was Sasuke Uchiha. The most popular guy in the school, the guy that every girl dreamed of, the guy that every girl wanted, but for some reason, he chose me. He wanted me, and so I agreed. Every girl was jealous, they all dropped at the sight of him. I walked down the hallways for them to stare at me in awe and wonder of why he chose me of all people. I wasn't popular, I would always keep my distance from a lot of people, he was a genius, a prodigy and I was nothing. Nothing but a shadow. Yet he chose me. He'd hold my hand while talking to his friends and I'd be on my phone as his hand righted around mine, as he pulled me closer to him, showing me love, making me happy, making me feel special. He would walk me home from school and pick me up for school and we would always have our laughs.

Yet...

All good things have to come to an end at some point ...

Right?

Because that's life...

One day, he came up to me during lunch and told me we were breaking up. I couldn't believe it. He said he never loved me and just dated me because I was an easy target. I cried on the inside and was shattered. On the outside, I played it off like I knew it was coming, and I think part of me knew it too, that it was too good to be true, us being together. After that I completely shut everyone out again, even my only friends Naruto and Hinata. We walked past each other in the hallway but never looked each other in the eye, called out each others names, or even made any contact.

Over this time, I came to a realization that I didn't need him and that I was me no matter what. And for that reason, over the summer I changed. I put more effort into my appearance, I changed my style and actually took care of myself. My once long (h/c) was now cut a little past my shoulders and my e/c eyes sparkles more. I dressed in crop tops and skinny ripped jeans and began wearing a bit of makeup. Over this time too, the hurt went away and was replaced with confidence and happiness.

The first day of school rolls around, I'm awake at 6, ready to go by 7. Plugging in my headphones, I begin to walk to school, stopping at the doors. I take a deep breath and open the doors, starting my first day of school as the new me

I walk to my locker, which was across from Sasukes and open it. Having a mirror inside I see him looking towards me, in awe of what I've become. I let out a small laugh and slam my locker shut, to turn and see a boy with red hair and mint green eyes. I would guess he's a transfer student. He asks me where his class is, which is the same as mine so we begin to walk. At the corner of my eye, I see Sasuke gritting his teeth. I smile

Are you shocked?
Are you mad?
That you're missing out on who I really am

I sat in my first period class next to the boy named Gaara as he told me about himself. The bell rang and Sasuke came and sat 2 seats behind me. I had already told Gaara about what had happened between us so when he sat and stared at me, Gaara started playing with my hair and I smiled, knowing what he was doing.

I felt Sasuke glaring at Gaara and myself as we continued to laugh and mess around. I look him straight in the eye and give him a sly grin causing his eyes to widen at my bold move.

Lunch rolls around later and I take Gaara to sit with the group I'm with which is made up of myself, Naruto, Hinata, Kiba, Shino, Neji, Tenten, Lee and Ino. We all see Sasuke enter with his new girlfriend, Sakura and glade daggers at him. He flashes me a cocky smile Gaara puts his arms around my waist, kissing me on the cheek, the sending him a grin

Sasuke suddenly speaks up "Like my new girlfriend N/n?"

I let out a small chuckle as he sits down with Sakura right next to him. She flashes a fake smile at me as Gaara pulls me into a passionate kiss. We pull away and I walk towards Sasuke as his stern faces seems to stare into my soul

I gently lift up his chin and stare into his onyx eyes and speak

"She's so gone"
