We arrived on time at the laundromat that the merchant was talking about. But I still wasn't able to get my clothes cleaned. Why? The shop took on too many customers and wouldn't accept any new ones. I even offered to pay four times their regular rate so they'd do a rush job for me. But the women in the shop refused to accept it. They closed down the shop after I tried reasoning with them.

It was only after we got booted out that Sasuke explained to me that asking for special treatment in shops and tipping is considered rude and offensive in the Land of Fire. People take pride in treating all their customers equally. I asked him why he didn't tell me this beforehand so I could have changed my approach in dealing with those women but he said nothing more about the issue and instead told me I'm better off washing my clothes in the laundry area of the inn.

But I know why he didn't tell me. Sneaky bastard. It's because of that talk we had a while ago about money. He wants to show me an instance when money can't solve my problems. And I guess, he succeeded this time. But this is an isolated case, of course. Had I been more knowledgeable of that small tidbit, then I could have been able to manipulate the situation to my advantage. It also didn't help that the women in the shop made eyes at Sasuke and thought I was his girlfriend too. If only the laundromat were run by men, I could have had an easier time.

Damn it.

I have to do a wash now and I've never done that before. I'd ask for Sasuke's help, but my pride wouldn't let me. I already told him that I knew how to wash clothes. I don't want him to know he's right about me. Especially not after, he corrected me a while ago in the market when I sprung for a shower gel instead of a detergent when I was looking for something to wash my clothes with. I can still remember the way he smirked sarcastically at my confusion and sniggered when I was paying the merchant at the stall. It took every inch of my willpower not to snap at him. I hate him when he's this way.

Hmph.

Sasuke and I are in the inn's main hall right now, making our way to the laundry area. All around are patrons of the inn, drinking tea and sake, and sitting beside low tables. The area seems jovial. The melodious plucking sound of a koto -- being played by a man on a small platform -- can be heard throughout the room. Surveying the room, I notice Orochimaru with Captain Yamato sitting on one of the low tables. Captain Yamato catches my gaze and walks over to us while Orochimaru remains seated and observes us. A sinister smile graces his lips as he looks our way. Ugh. I swear, the man creeps me out even from a distance. There's something about him that I can't quite stomach.
