Sasuke should have told me that he was going, but he didn't. Instead, I woke up at the crack of dawn and found an empty spot on the bamboo flooring -- where he was supposed to be. Uta -- who slept between me and Sasuke -- was still in a deep slumber. In his sleeping state, the blonde boy looked peaceful and happy that you could almost forget that this boy spent the whole night sobbing.

I let Uta sleep for a while and went to get ready for breakfast only to find out that Sasuke had beaten me to it. Beside the hut were a bunch of husked coconuts for me and Uta to eat for breakfast. Along with that, there were two halved coconut shells filled with mulberries waiting for us. By the campfire, there were branches and sticks set up and neatly tied together. He didn't even forget about the kindling.

Hmm. By his actions alone, it's clear that Sasuke is an expert at surviving with minimal resources. He's able to thrive in such a dismal place. It's quite a skill. Yet, it's something I can't say I have myself. While I can slum it up if the need arises, I can't imagine being able to live like this for long. That's why Sasuke and I need to find a way out of here and find a semblance of civilization. Hopefully, Sasuke has rested enough so he can use his Susanoo. Then, we can hand the boy over to his stepmother, regroup with my friends, and continue our journey to break the Soulbound enchantment. But, until then, I have to grin and bear our situation and make do with what I have -- which at this moment isn't that much, unfortunately.

I have no access to my traveling money nor do I have my toiletries. My only assets are the clothes on my back and a kunai. There's a lumpy mass of paper pulp -- that used to be Sayumi's bulky letter -- stuck on the inside pocket of my jacket. So that's something. But it's pretty useless. The letter is incomprehensible in this state. Inside the lumpy mass, there's a gold ring embedded with red, yellow, and blue colored gems. The rough stones barely have any brilliance at all. It makes me wonder why Sayumi would send such a tawdry ring to her father.
