I shouldn't have come here. But I felt bad. The frenzy in the public square turned into a full-blown riot. Aside from Sasuke and the goons that he fought, other rowdy people started fighting each other as well.

Apparently, there are two factions in Shimogakure, those who are allied with that greasy old man Gin Otsuru and those who side with the recognized leader of Shimogakure who is ruling albeit in a de jure function. And amidst the chaos, Naga hit his head and fainted while we were trying to get ourselves away from the fighting crowd.

That's why I am staying by his side right now, in this hovel that he and Sasuke apparently call a home.

This place is not even a wooden hut, to be honest; it's more of a shed with logs stacked on top of the other placed on four sides to create a semblance of a hut. Inside, there are just two tatami mats, a stone table, and two wooden chairs. The thatched roof above us barely provides warmth. On the plus side, there is a lamp burning brightly on the stone table in the middle of the room and on the wall beside it, a working fireplace with a large pot hanging on top of the fireplace's inner hearth. I guess that's where they cook their food. But where do they go when they need to go to the bathroom? What kind of hut doesn't even have its own bathroom?

Stop it.

I am really not here to nitpick on how they live. I am here to watch over Naga who is lying on a tatami mat right now. This sweet boy tried his hardest to help me without hesitation. And for the sake of my cover, I used him to try to escape a precarious situation. It's my fault that he's like this now and I am not certain what to do to make him feel better.

I am not a medic after all. What does one do when someone they know is unconscious? Should I wake him up? Should I wait for him to rouse on his own? In my missions, someone usually makes the unconscious person sniff smelling salts to get them to wake up. But where do I get that in a dreary town like this?

The wooden door creaks and I turn to see Sasuke enter the room holding a roll of thick rope in his hand. He throws the rope on the floor and places his flint gray backpack on one of the chairs.
